Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Cooks seems to be nearing the end of the line, joining his third team in the past four years after finishing with less than 700 receiving yards in three consecutive seasons. He sank all the way to 259 yards in 10 games last year with the Cowboys, limited both by injuries and terrible per-target production (48.1 percent catch rate, 4.8 YPT). Cooks turns 32 in September and won't be ahead of Chris Olave or Rashid Shaheed on the depth chart in New Orleans, but there is an opportunity to earn playing time, especially if Olave's concussion issues resurface and/or Shaheed struggles to come back from knee surgery. Even if that happens, it's hard to imagine a post-prime version of Cooks putting up fantasy-relevant numbers in an offense that's a strong candidate to experience some of the worst QB play in the league. Cooks can probably consider it a success if he gets the 468 receiving yards needed to reach 10,000 for his career. Read Past Outlooks

Catches three passes Week 1
Cooks had three receptions (on four targets) for 26 yards during Sunday's 20-13 loss versus the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Cooks slotted in as New Orleans' No. 3 wideout in his first game back with the team since 2016. The 31-year-old finished fourth on the squad in targets, catches and yards as quarterback Spencer Rattler chucked a career-high 46 passing attempts. But, the lion's share of targets still went toward Chris Olave (13), Rashid Shaheed (nine) and tight end Juwan Johnson (11). The surprisingly high volume of passing attempts could lead to more production than expected from the Saints' receivers, though it appears the aerial attack will be concentrated around Olave, Shaheed and Johnson. Cooks will look to gain some extra targets when the Saints host the 49ers in Week 2.

Cooks is coming off back-to-back seasons under 700 yards, following a seven-year stretch in which he topped 1,000 six times. He moved from a dreadful Houston offense in 2022 to a high-flying Dallas attack in 2023, and while his per-target efficiency unsurprisingly improved, Cooks drew only 5.1 targets per game in an offense that averaged 36.1 passes. CeeDee Lamb got 79 more targets (181) than second-place Jake Ferguson (102), who in turn had 21 more than Cooks (81). Eight of those 81 looks went for touchdowns, but yardage was consistently lacking apart from a 9-173-1 outburst Week 10 against the Giants (accounting for 26.3 percent of Cooks' yards for the season). The Cowboys haven't signed any veteran WRs this offseason and didn't draft one until Round 6 (Ryan Flournoy), likely leaving Cooks as the No. 2 receiver again and Jalen Tolbert as the favorite for the No. 3 job (after Michael Gallup was released). Cooks will turn 31 in September and doesn't seem especially likely to add big gains to last year's volume unless Lamb misses time with an injury.

Back to where he started
Cooks signed a two-year, $13 million contract with the Saints on Friday, reuniting him with the team that selected him in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Cooks spent the first three seasons of his career in New Orleans, generating a 215-2,861-20 receiving line and adding 21 carries for 121 yards and a rushing touchdown across 42 regular-season games. In his return to New Orleans, Cooks appears to profile as no worse than the No. 3 receiver behind Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, although both wideouts finished the 2024 season sidelined with a concussion and knee injury, respectively.
