The 49ers selected Latu in the third round of the 2023 Draft, finally giving the team a receiving threat behind top tight end George Kittle. Due to the latter's star presence, the rookie is unlikely to see much action as a rookie. That said, Latu has a clear path to win the backup job behind Kittle out of camp, which would get the youngster some looks in two-TE formations while providing insurance for the oft-injured starter. The Alabama product showed strong hands in college - a 56-787-12 receiving line over the last two years - which should make him fantasy relevant if he cracks the game-day lineup. Read Past Outlooks

Latu sustained a meniscus injury in Friday's preseason loss to the Chargers and will undergo surgery. The rookie third-rounder will be forced to miss the entire 2023 campaign due to the injury after landing on injured reserve Tuesday, and he'll shift his focus toward recovering ahead of the 2024 season.
