2025 Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Discussed as a potential mid-round pick throughout winter and spring, Martinez instead fell to the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft before the Seahawks took him at No. 223 overall. It's a poor landing spot to earn rookie-year playing time, as Martinez is highly unlikely to eclipse Kenneth Walker or Zach Charbonnet on the depth chart and faces a challenge to even unseat Kenny McIntosh from the No. 3 role. That said, Martinez has above-average speed (4.51 40) for a big back (6-foot, 217), and his college production was highly encouraging -- three consecutive seasons with at least 161 carries, 982 rushing yards and 6.1 YPC for Oregon State and then Miami. He's also just 21, making him an interesting developmental prospect for 2026 and beyond despite being a seventh-round pick. Read Past Outlooks

Sticks on Seahawks' practice squad
Martinez signed with the Seahawks' practice squad Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Martinez was highly touted even as a seventh-round pick due to a productive collegiate career during which he rushed for 2,187 yards (6.2 YPC) and 19 touchdowns over his final two seasons. However, the Miami product had an underwhelming preseason with just 84 yards on 24 carries (3.5 YPC) and was clearly outplayed by second-year back George Holani, who earned a spot on the active roster. Martinez is still just 21 years old and will have time to develop in a system that's favorable to running backs. If one of Holani, Kenneth Walker or Zach Charbonnet gets injured, either Martinez or Jacardia Wright will likely be brought up from the practice squad.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could have role as rookie
Martinez, who was selected by the Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, could have a meaningful role in Seattle's backfield as a rookie, Mel Kiper of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Martinez was projected as an early Day 3 pick but ended up sliding to the seventh round before being snapped up by the Seahawks. The Miami running back averaged 4.5 yards after contact per carry in 2024, which ranked fourth in the FBS, and Kiper believes that could help Martinez establish a role for himself behind Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet. Martinez logged 159 carries for 1,002 yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 games during his final season with the Hurricanes.
