2024 Fantasy Outlook
A 2022 third-round pick by Atlanta, Ridder was traded to the Cardinals as part of the Falcons' offseason purge. Ridder played 19 games in two seasons for the Falcons and did little of note, other than to prove he wasn't the QB of the future. His numbers were mostly middle of the pack last year, but in his two seasons in Atlanta he totaled the same numbers of turnovers as rush/pass TDs (19). Ridder lost a summer competition with Clayton Tune for the backup QB job in Arizona. Read Past Outlooks
Will remain backup
Ridder will remain the Raiders' backup quarterback in Sunday's game against the Dolphins after head coach Antonio Pierce announced Wednesday that Gardner Minshew will retain starting duties, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Minshew was pulled early for performance-related reasons for the third time in seven starts in the Raiders' Week 9 loss to the Bengals, Pierce said coming out of a Week 10 bye that Minshew gives the team the best chance to win. Ridder came on in relief of Minshew versus Cincinnati and wasn't overly impressive, as he completed 11 of 16 passes for 74 yards (4.6 YPA) and a touchdown, but he also lost a fumble. While Minshew will keep the job for now, he remains a weekly candidate to be benched if he struggles to move the offense, so it may not be long before Ridder gets another opportunity.

2022
Ridder started the final four games of 2022 but didn’t turn many heads -- it took until the last game before he threw a TD pass and his 6.2 YPA was 41st of 47 QBs with at least 100 attempts. In his defense, Ridder had little talent at his disposal. Tight end Kyle Pitts was lost for the season weeks earlier, and other than impressive rookie wideout Drake London, the best option was Olamide Zaccheaus. Ridder committed only two turnovers (both lost fumbles), but in addition to the feeble passing stats he averaged only 4.0 carries for 16.0 yards per game without any TDs, making him unreliable for a rushing fantasy boost. The Falcons added insurance in Taylor Heinicke, but they're saying it’s Ridder’s job to lose. Pitts is expected to return healthy, but after him and London they settled for the middling duo of Mack Hollins and Scotty Miller to replace Zaccheaus (now with Philadelphia). Moreover, the Falcons drafted RB Bijan Robinson eighth overall this year, teaming him with Tyler Allgeier in an Arthur Smith-directed offense that was second in run percentage last season (55.3).

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Not starting in Week 11
Ridder, who replaced Gardner Minshew in the second half of the Week 9 loss to the Bengals, will revert to the No. 2 role for Sunday's matchup against the Dolphins, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Ridder took over for Minshew with 5:02 remaining in the third quarter of the loss to Cincinnati, but he didn't make a very convincing case for a start coming out of the Week 10 bye. Ridder completed 11 of 16 passes for 74 yards with a touchdown, but he also lost a fumble. However, considering Minshew's struggles this season, Ridder may not be far removed from another turn with the first unit.
