Devon Witherspoon

Devon Witherspoon

23-Year-Old CornerbackCB
Seattle Seahawks
2023 Fantasy Outlook
The Seahawks almost never take cornerbacks this high, but Witherspoon is an elite prospect that warranted the No. 5 overall pick in the 2023 Draft. He's not a big corner, lining up at 6-0, 180 pounds, but he was widely considered one of the top cover corners in the nation last year, registering 14 pass breakups and three picks as a senior. The Illinois product should slot in as an immediate starter opposite Tariq Woolen to create a young duo that could quickly become one of the best in the league. Read Past Outlooks

Witherspoon recorded 79 tackles (56 solo), 16 pass breakups, 3.0 sacks and a pick-six across 14 games during the 2023 season.
ANALYSIS
Witherspoon's physicality was a welcomed addition to a Seattle defense that had seemingly lost its identity over the past couple of years. The No. 5 overall pick made a statement in Week 4 with two sacks and a pick-six against the Giants, and he led the Seahawks in pass breakups. His 8.0 tackles for loss also ranks fourth on the team. Witherspoon will be a starter again in 2024, and he should be a solid fantasy contributor regardless of who the head coach is.

Showing star potential
CBSeattle Seahawks
October 7, 2023
Following a Week 4 performance that earned Witherspoon the NFC Defensive Player of the Week award, Michael-Shawn Duggar of The Athletic believes that the No. 5 overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft has shown flashes of star potential this season.
ANALYSIS
Witherspoon scooped up the NFC DPOW award when he registered seven tackles and two sacks and picked off Giants quarterback Daniel Jones for a 97-yard interception return touchdown Monday night. Witherspoon ranks in the top 20 among corners with an allowed passer rating of 83.7 on 29 targets, and his two sacks on the season is tied for the league lead across all rookies. He's shown versatility in the Seahawks' secondary to play both nickel and at left corner, with teammate Quandre Diggs predicting Tuesday that Witherspoon will "be one of the great ones." Witherspoon will have the chance to showcase his talents following the bye against the Bengals in Week 6.
