2025 Fantasy Outlook
Stick has appeared in only six regular-season games, five coming in 2023 for the Chargers when Justin Herbert was hurt. Stick was mediocre in limited action that season, completing 64 percent of his passes for 1,129 yards, three TDs and an INT. He also rushed 27 times for 144 yards and a TD but fumbled five times, losing four. Taylor Heinicke swapped places with Stick and now is in Los Angeles, but Kirk Cousins remains on Atlanta's roster for now to back up Michael Penix, leaving Stick as the No. 3 QB. Read Past Outlooks
Serving as No. 2 quarterback
Atlanta signed Stick off its practice squad Wednesday, Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Raheem Morris confirmed Wednesday that Stick will step in as Atlanta's new No. 2 quarterback, with Kirk Cousins elevating into the starting role after Michael Penix (knee) was officially placed on injured reserve after sustaining a season-ending partial tear of his ACL in this past Sunday's 30-27 overtime loss to Carolina. Stick's last NFL action came with the Chargers in 2023, when he appeared in five games and threw for 1,129 yards, three touchdowns and one interception while adding 144 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Stick was mediocre at best after taking over in Week 14 last year after Justin Herbert was lost for the season. He finished with a 6.9 average target depth and 6.5 YPA with all three of his TD passes coming in his first start -- a 63-21 loss at the Raiders. He returns this season to back up Herbert again, though he will do so with an unimpressive group of receivers, and with new coach Jim Harbaugh and new running backs Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins, the Chargers are likely to be more run-heavy this season anyway. Stick’s mobility gives him a bit of upside (nearly 30 rushing yards per game last season), but if Herbert goes down again, the Chargers likely won’t ask Stick to do much.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Likely next man up if Herbert sits
Head coach Jim Harbaugh said Wednesday that Easton Stick would likely start over Taylor Heinicke in Week 3 against the Steelers if Justin Herbert is forced to sit out due to an ankle injury, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Herbert suffered the ankle injury Week 2 against the Panthers, and though he never missed a snap and X-rays conducted Monday came back negative, the talented quarterback missed Wednesday's practice. Harbaugh said Wednesday that he still felt Herbert was more likely than not to play against Pittsburgh, but he acknowledged he would likely go with Stick over Heinicke if matters changed.
