2025 Fantasy Outlook
Cousins had some bright spots last season -- he twice threw four TD passes in game, once topping 500 yards -- but with eighth-overall pick Michael Penix lurking, it was only a matter of time before Cousins was pushed aside. He’s fortunate he lasted as long as he did. In his last five games, Cousins threw one TD pass to nine interceptions before he was finally benched Week 16. Trading Cousins might be easier said than done because he has a no-trade clause and wants to start, and the Falcons likely will want a trade partner to take on a large chunk of his salary. The only way he’ll regain the starting job in Atlanta is if Penix is injured. In that case, he would only have value in two-QB leagues, at most. He looked washed down the stretch last year, ranking 30th among 35 QBs in on-target percentage Weeks 10-15. And his mediocre arm isn’t getting any stronger (he threw only 7.3 percent of his attempts beyond 20 yards, 32nd). Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Suitors may include Vikings?
The Browns, Steelers and Vikings may be interested in acquiring Cousins, whose contract includes a no-trade clause, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The contract also has a guaranteed $27.5 million salary for 2025, plus a guaranteed $10 million roster bonus in 2026. Cousins somewhat unexpectedly showed up for the start of Atlanta's voluntary OTAs this week, but he still seems to be hoping for a trade that would put him in a starting role -- preferably without competition from an early draft pick at the position. Pittsburgh would seem to be the cleanest fit, if Aaron Rodgers doesn't end up signing there and the Steelers don't use an early pick on a QB later this week. Falcons GM Terry Fontenot responded to some of the rumors and reports Wednesday, saying it's "not accurate" that the team has asked potential trade partners to take on at least $20 million of Cousins' salary, per Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network.

Cousins was on pace for close to 5,000 yards and 40 TDs last year when he snapped his Achilles tendon in October. As it was, he finished QB24 in fantasy, despite playing only eight games. That’s what hefty volume will do for you -- when he went down in Week 8, he was the league leader in attempts (311). For the second year in a row, his average target depth dropped -- to 7.3, 24th in the league -- which boosted his on-target rate to a career-high 80.4 percent (2nd) and his completion rate to 69.5 percent (3rd). Cousins eschewed the deep ball (6.4 percent of attempts, 31st) for intermediate targets (26.0 percent, 3rd). That’ll probably be the formula again this season for the 36-year-old, especially because he never had elite arm strength in the first place. Whether he gets 600 attempts is the question after he signed with Atlanta in March for $100 million guaranteed. First, he’s still working back from the injury; second, new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson, after five years as a Rams assistant, is somewhat of an unknown; and third, the Falcons surprisingly drafted QB Michael Penix eighth overall in April. A lot can go sideways, including risk of eventually being usurped by Penix and his cannon arm. Cousins will need elite volume to have value in single-QB leagues, as he doesn't provide any rushing stats and isn't quite a top passer.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
May be stuck in Atlanta
Cousins doesn't appear to have many logical suitors remaining in a potential trade, Albert Breer of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Steelers remain a possibility if they're unable to work something out with Aaron Rodgers, but otherwise the teams looking to bolster their quarterback rooms, such as the Browns, Vikings or Saints, all addressed that need during the draft. The Falcons may be stuck with Cousins as an extremely expensive backup to Michael Penix as a result, unless an injury creates an opening on another roster during training camp or the preseason. Even in that scenario, Cousins might elect to use his no-trade clause if he doesn't believe he'd be a good fit with another club.
