New York Giants
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Hodgins emerged as one of New York's top wideouts with a productive run near the end of the 2022 season, but he dropped off dramatically last year despite ample opportunity early in the campaign. The Oregon State product re-signed with the Giants in the offseason, but with first-rounder Malik Nabers set to lead the team's receiving corps, Darius Slayton, Wan'Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt still around, and both Allen Robinson and Isaiah McKenzie coming aboard as free agents, it's tough to envision Hodgins being able to carve out much of a role. Odd man out with Slayton's return
WRNew York Giants
May 31, 2024
Hodgins caught a lot of passes with the first-team offense last week but seems to be the odd man out now that Darius Slayton is at OTAs, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Slayton, Malik Nabers and Wan'Dale Robinson figure to be the top three wide receivers, leaving Hodgins to compete with Jalin Hyatt, Allen Robinson, Isaiah McKenzie and others for depth roles. It's hard to find a roster with more backup WRs that have starting experience in the NFL, but in Hodgins' case, he mostly got that opportunity because the Giants were so thin at his position the past two seasons. Now that they're in better shape -- at least at wide receiver -- he'll head to training camp without assurances of a Week 1 roster spot, after signing a one-year contract that includes only $325,000 guaranteed.

Reduced role with Slayton back
WRNew York Giants
June 2, 2024
Hodgins got off to a strong start at OTAs but has seen his role reduced by the return of Darius Slayton after Slayton worked out his contract dispute with the Giants, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hodgins will have a hard time carving out first-team reps, as he's clearly behind Slayton and rookie sixth overall pick Malik Nabers on the wide receiver depth chart, while Wan'Dale Robinson is locked in as the top slot option. The Giants also signed veteran wide receivers Allen Robinson and Isaiah McKenzie, plus 2023 third-round draft pick Jalin Hyatt is expected to push for a larger role in 2024, so Hodgins will need to make the most of his opportunities just to ensure he makes the roster. Hodgins capitalized on injuries to post 351 yards and four touchdowns in eight games for the Giants in 2022, but he had only 230 yards and three touchdowns over 17 games in 2023.

2020
Hodgins enjoyed quite an ascent in 2022, ending as one of Daniel Jones' favorite targets for the Giants after spending the first four weeks of the campaign on the Bills' practice squad. Hodgins featured prominently for New York from Weeks 13-17, averaging five catches for 50 yards while racking up four touchdowns. He then erupted for eight catches for 105 yards and a score in the Giants' wild-card win over Minnesota. The late-season breakout likely earned Hodgins a sizable role in New York's passing game for 2023, but he'll have more competition for targets with TE Darren Waller, WR Parris Campbell and rookie third-rounder Jalin Hyatt joining a receiving corps that still includes Hodgins, Darius Slayton, Sterling Shepard and Wan'Dale Robinson.
Hodgins was a sixth-round draft pick in 2020 following a productive career at Oregon State. He has good size (at 6-3, 201 pounds), along with good skills around the ball, which could spell potential for him in Buffalo. The team's receiver room is crowded though, so Hodgins may find himself on the practice squad to start the coming season.
In his junior season at Oregon State, Hodgins, whose father played eight years in the NFL for the Rams, caught 86 passes for 1,171 yards and 13 touchdowns, prompting him to forgo his senior season and declare for the NFL Draft. That kind of college production as well as his good size (at 6-foot-4), along with good skills around the ball could spell potential in Buffalo for the 2020 sixth-rounder.
