2023 Fantasy Outlook
Backup tight ends generally don’t generate much buzz, but Likely quickly became an exception as a rookie last summer with 12 catches for 144 yards the first two weeks of the preseason. Once games counted, the fourth-round pick was mostly stuck behind star TE Mark Andrews but then thrived when he got extra playing time. Andrews played only 10 snaps Week 8 and sat out entirely Weeks 9 and 18; in those three games, Likely caught 15 of 25 targets for 204 yards and two touchdowns. In his other 13 games, he had 21-169-1 on 35 targets. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound tight end now faces tougher snap/target competition from an upgraded group of wideouts, but new OC Todd Monken may nonetheless make two-TE sets a big part of his offense, especially if rookie WR Zay Flowers is slow to develop or Odell Beckham and Rashod Bateman struggle with injuries again. Costly drop in loss
Likely had one reception for 20 yards on two targets in Sunday's loss to Indianapolis.
ANALYSIS
Likely continues to struggle to make an impact, and there are concerning trends in regards to his role. While his two targets marked a season high, his snap count fell under 20 and has decreased each week since the season began. Likely also had a costly drop late in the game that could have extended a Ravens drive. The team's new offense has not been as inclined to use two-TE sets as it was in the past, and with Mark Andrews now healthy, the room for Likely to produce is shrinking. Baltimore travels to Cleveland to face the Browns in Week 4.

With veteran breakout candidates all falling flat, a pair of NFC North tight ends are rapidly emerging as the league's new stars at the position.

The Dolphins rightfully get most of the headlines this week, but De'Von Achane might not be the only emerging rookie star in a high-flying AFC offense.

Tutu Atwell had another big game, and he's still available on waivers in a lot of leagues after the focus last week fell on teammates Puka Nacua and Kyren Williams.
2022 Fantasy Outlook
Tight ends are a major factor in Baltimore's offense, so Likely landing in the Charm City instantly puts him on the fantasy radar. Mark Andrews is the top option in the passing game and that isn't changing anytime soon. But there is still room for a second tight end to get in on the rotation for targets and Baltimore's offseason decisions with the receiving corps only strengthen that notion. Likely has an interesting profile in his own right, too. He averaged 11.69 YPT over 78 targets and scored 12 touchdowns in his final season at Coastal Carolina. His combine metrics kept him from being drafted higher and his frame (6-5, 245) could be an issue as it relates to blocking NFL edge rushers and linebackers. There's added competition with fellow rookie Charlie Kolar to consider, too. It may take until midseason for one of either Likely or Kolar to emerge as a secondary tight end target behind Andrews, but there's reason to believe one of these rookies can have a role in Baltimore's passing game this year.
