2025 Projections
Sidelined Wednesday
Johnson (Achilles) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Johnson will begin the Jets' offseason activities on the sideline as he continues to recover from the torn Achilles he sustained two games into the 2024 season. According to Costello, Johnson is likely to remain out until training camp. Once healthy, the 2022 first-round pick is expected to return as one of the Jets' top pass rushers in 2025.

2023
2022
Not much went right for the Jets in 2023, but the emergence of Johnson was one. After a quiet rookie season for the 2022 first-round pick, he more than doubled his defensive snap count and his production followed suit. Brought in to get after the quarterback, Johnson accomplished that goal by creating 56 total pressures (per PFF), good for a mark inside the top-25 in the league among edge rushers. Johnson also did enough as a run-stopper, tallying 20 tackles in the role. With Bryce Huff and John Franklin-Myers out of the picture, Johnson should have the chance to step into a leadership role along the defensive line and his production could take another jump forward in his third season as a pro.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Option picked up despite injury
Johnson, Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson became the first trio of teammates to each have their fifth-year rookie option picked up in the same year, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Johnson was the only one of the three 2022 first-round draft picks who had some doubt about whether the organization would pick up his option, as the pass rusher is recovering from a torn Achilles. Prior to the injury, Johnson was developing into a star, having made the Pro Bowl in 2023 while recording 7.5 sacks that season. With Johnson, Gardner and Wilson under contract through 2026, the Jets have their core in place as they look to end a playoff drought that dates back to January of 2011.
