2024 Fantasy Outlook
Mundt could serve as Minnesota's top pass-catching tight end for a significant portion of 2024 if he's able to beat out Josh Oliver and Robert Tonyan, as T.J. Hockenson tore his ACL in Week 16 last season and figures to miss the start of the upcoming campaign. Oliver's role didn't change much after Hockenson's injury, while Mundt stepped up with nine catches for 96 yards and one touchdown on 13 targets in two games (after having only eight catches for 76 yards prior to that point). That two-game sample was encouraging, but Mundt has just 405 yards and two touchdowns in an NFL career that has spanned seven seasons and 81 games. Read Past Outlooks

ANALYSIS
Mundt played just 18 snaps on offense and went out on three routes, as he's moved to a small role with the return of T.J. Hockenson from a knee injury.

Getting more run with Smith out
Mundt has seen more first-team reps while Irv Smith recovers from thumb surgery, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
ANALYSIS
"I'm getting a lot more reps in practice," Mundt said of the impact of Smith's absence, adding that he has built up chemistry with Kirk Cousins and Minnesota's other quarterbacks, especially in third-down situations. Smith is expected to be back by Week 1, but if he's unable to meet that timeline, Mundt could open the season as the Vikings' top tight end after spending the previous five seasons in a depth role with the Rams.
