2025 Fantasy Outlook
Mims' first two pro seasons have been both disappointing and promising. Despite being a second-round pick, Mims has struggled to earn playing time, but he’s proven to be a versatile threat when on the field, averaging 10.3 YAC per reception and earning back-to-back Pro Bowl nods for his work as a return specialist. After a rookie season with just 33 targets but a handful of huge plays, Mims looked to take a step back in 2024, catching 11 of 19 targets for 69 yards over his first 10 games. He finally made a couple big plays Week 11, and after that he drew four or more targets in every game, although it wasn't until a playoff loss to Buffalo that he reached 50 percent snap share for the first time all year. The role he handled Weeks 11-18 was an odd one, featuring an extremely low aDOT (4.4) and an extremely high target rate (33.3 percent of routes), with 33 targets and nine carries yielding 443 yards and six TDs. The nature of Mims' production wasn't sustainable, but it doesn't need to be, given that he has 4.38 speed and averaged 19.5 yards per catch at Oklahoma, i.e., he can trade some of that yardage on short receptions for targets and yardage on long ones. He's also one of the youngest players from his draft class, having turned 23 this spring, and continued development might finally convince Broncos coach Sean Payton to have regular starters at WR instead of rotating everyone behind Courtland Sutton. Mims brought in three of four targets for 12 yards with a lost fumble in Sunday's 20-12 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Mims was able to suit up after practicing all week while recovering from a thigh injury. Managers may have hoped he sat this one out after a lost fumble resulted in a negative fantasy score in standard formats. Courtland Sutton (6-61-1) and Troy Franklin (4-44-0) finished with more targets and better production than Mims. The 23-year-old Mims will have to step it up, starting with next Sunday's matchup against the Colts, or run the risk of falling down the receiver depth chart.

2024
2023
Mims got off to a great start as a rookie after the Broncos drafted him in Round 2 last year. In his first four games, he recorded 242 receiving yards on 11 targets, adding a kick return TD and a pair of long punt returns. But things went downhill quickly; Mims had one game with more than 16 receiving yards the rest of the way, with his biggest impact coming on special teams. After Week 4, he saw targets on 22 of 210 routes (10.5 percent), catching 13 for 135 yards. Inconsistent playing time was part of the problem, but Mims also did next to nothing with the snaps and routes he got. Coach Sean Payton has already hinted at a larger role for Mims in Year 2, though Payton's track record of rotating receivers behind his No. 1 suggests playing time could be an issue for everyone besides Courtland Sutton. Apart from Mims, the Broncos will have Josh Reynolds, Tim Patrick and rookie fourth-round pick Troy Franklin as the top candidates for WR snaps. With Jarrett Stidham and/or rookie Bo Nix under center, it's hard to argue for Mims as anything other than a late-round flier in fantasy.
Mims joins Sean Payton and Russell Wilson after the Broncos took him 63rd overall in this year's draft. The Oklahoma product ran a 4.39 40 at the combine at 5-11, 183, which puts him on the smaller side for an NFL receiver but also means he's both heavier and faster (at least in terms of timed 40 speed) than first-round picks Zay Flowers (5-9, 182) and Jordan Addison (5-11, 173). Mims can't match Addison's college production but did have similar numbers to Flowers, who is a year and a half older. Mims had 610 receiving yards as an 18-year-old freshman, 705 as a sophomore and 1,083 as a junior, with 20 TDs and a 19.5 yards per catch in 37 games. He could quickly emerge as a deep threat for Russell Wilson, who continued to throw deep last season while struggling with ... pretty much everything else. Earning an every-down role is trickier, though things cleared up a bit for Mims when fellow wideout Tim Patrick sustained an Achilles tear during training camp.

Could emerge as top receiver
WRDenver Broncos
July 8, 2025
Mims has a chance to lead the Broncos in receiving yards in 2025, Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post suggests.
ANALYSIS
Parker initially suggested that Mims is the leading candidate to be the second outside receiver in Denver, opposite Courtland Sutton. After Sutton posted 1,081 yards in the 2024 regular season to lead the team, he should enter 2025 as the clear-cut favorite to retain that title. However, Mims broke out in the second half of 2024 by recording 32 catches for 447 yards and six touchdowns across the final eight games of the regular season and could continue to excel in Denver's new-look offense.
