2025 Fantasy Outlook
An undrafted back out of Iowa, Goodson made a small splash with an increased workload in his second NFL season. While he handled only 43 touches over 16 regular-season games, he averaged 4.8 yards per carry and scored his first two career touchdowns, with most of his production coming early in the year when Jonathan Taylor was sidelined. The Colts bolstered their backfield depth in the offseason, swapping Trey Sermon out for Khalil Herbert and selecting DJ Giddens in the fifth round of the draft, so Goodson will be hard-pressed to have a meaningful role again. August 21, 2025
Goodson (elbow) didn't practice Thursday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The elbow injury that Goodson suffered during Saturday's preseason game against the Packers isn't viewed as major, per Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star, but the running back's absence from practice Thursday suggests that he'll miss Saturday's preseason finale against the Bengals. When he's available, Goodson is competing with DJ Giddens and Khalil Herbert (undisclosed) for slotting behind top back Jonathan Taylor.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Goodson emerged as a third-down back for the Colts late last season after several injuries in the backfield. He had six receptions for 34 yards and 13 carries for 87 yards in six games. His season ended on a sour note, however, as the last meaningful play of a Week 18 must-win game for Indianapolis was a dropped pass by Goodson that would have extended a potential game-winning drive with just over a minute to play. Goodson, Trey Sermon and Evan Hull will compete for the backup job to Jonathan Taylor this summer. While he weighs less than 200 pounds and has taken just 19 regular-season touches since going undrafted in 2022, it wouldn't be shocking if Goodson challenged Hull for a role as the two-minute/hurry-up back. Goodson ran a 4.42 at the 2022 Combine, after piling up 2,551 rushing yards and 70 receptions in three seasons at Iowa.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be Colts' RB1 in Week 6
RBIndianapolis Colts
October 10, 2024
Goodson could be in line to lead Indianapolis' backfield in Week 6 against the Titans, as Jonathan Taylor and Trey Sermon didn't practice Wednesday due to their respective ankle and collarbone injuries.
ANALYSIS
Taylor's absence wasn't surprising considering he sat out the Week 5 loss to Jacksonville due to the same injury, but Sermon was a new addition to the injury report. Goodson handled eight touches to Sermon's 16 against the Jaguars, but if Sermon sits against Tennessee, Goodson would presumably take over the lead role at running back, though Evan Hull and/or Trent Pennix would likely be elevated from the practice squad to provide depth.
