SLATE PREVIEW
Washington is considered tonight's biggest favorite based on FanDuel's moneyline. The Capitals are at minus-280 while their opponent, Seattle, is at plus-225. The Islanders (minus-225) and Stars (minus-210) are also clear favorites against the Sharks (plus-184) and Blue Jackets (plus-172), respectively. Some matchups that are seen as being more of a tossup include Toronto (minus-125) versus New Jersey (plus-104), LA (plus-110) versus St. Louis (minus-132) and Vancouver (minus-120) versus Pittsburgh (plus-100).
GOALIES
Logan Thompson, WAS vs. SEA ($7,900): Thompson gelled with Washington during the 2024-25, finishing the regular season with a 31-6-6 record, 2.49 GAA and .910 save percentage in 43 outings, and it seems like he'll be just as effective this year. The 28-year-old has a 3-1-0 record, 1.78 GAA and .922 save percentage in four starts this year. Thompson has done fairly well against Seattle in the past -- he's 3-1-0 with a 1.52 GAA and .939 save percentage in four regular-season clashes.
Sergei Bobrovsky, FLA at BOS ($7,700): Florida is on a four-game losing streak, but the schedule has played a big part in that slump. The Panthers opened the season with seven games in 12 days, so they were pretty gassed by the tail end of that run. However, their most recent game was Saturday, so Florida has gotten a breather and should come out strong against Boston. Bobrovsky has done well this year, posting a 4-2-0 record, 2.02 GAA and .917 save percentage in five appearances -- he wasn't in net for two of Florida's losses because of the compact schedule.
Scott Wedgewood, COL at UTA ($7,500): Mackenzie Blackwood (lower body) hasn't been able to play yet this campaign, and Wedgewood has taken full advantage of the opportunity to play more regularly. He's 5-0-1 with a 1.48 GAA and a .938 save percentage across six outings. Wedgewood will enter Tuesday's action in the midst of a three-game winning streak in which he's allowed just three goals on 65 shots (.954 save percentage).
VALUE PLAYS
Conor Garland, VAN at PIT ($5,000): Garland is on a roll with a goal and five points over his past three games. It helps that he's gotten plenty of power-play ice time recently. He's averaged a staggering 5:27 with the man advantage over his past three games, accumulating three power-play assists in that span. The 29-year-old is a nice grab while he's hot.
Dmitri Voronkov, CLM at DAL ($4,700): Voronkov has gotten off to a strong start with two goals and five points in five outings this year. He's spending most of his even-strength time on a line with Sean Monahan and Kirill Marchenko. As long as that continues to be the case, Voronkov is likely to produce solid offensive numbers.
Anders Lee, NYI vs. SJS ($4,700): After being held off the scoresheet in his first four games of 2025-26, Lee stepped up with two goals and an assist in the Islanders' 3-2 win over Ottawa on Saturday. It wouldn't be surprising to see Lee build on that strong game tonight, especially against San Jose, which is tied for 31st in goals allowed per game with 5.00.
Gabriel Landeskog, COL at UTA ($4,500): Landeskog had a quiet start to the campaign with no points over his first four games, but he's started to heat up, recording an assist in each of his past two outings. Some rust is to be expected after missing the vast majority of the past three campaigns due to injury -- the exception being two regular-season AHL games and five NHL playoff outings in 2024-25 -- but as the 32-year-old gets back into the groove of things, his offensive production might start to increase dramatically.
FORWARD LINE STACKS
Devils at Maple Leafs
Jack Hughes (C - $7,400), Jesper Bratt (W - $7,300), Ondrej Palat (W - $3,700)
New Jersey and Toronto rank fourth and fifth in goals per game with 3.80 and 3.67, respectively, so this should be a high-scoring game. Hughes and Bratt are two of the most likely forwards to get in on the action. Hughes has three goals and six points, with most of that damage coming across his past three games (three goals, two assists), while Bratt is on a season-opening five-game scoring streak that's given him three goals and four assists.
Palat has just an assist through five appearances this year, and he hasn't reached the 40-point mark in a regular season since 2021-22, so he's not particularly helpful in fantasy. There is a touch of appeal given that he's on a good line and cheap, but if you can afford the upgrade, it'd be better to take Dawson Mercer (W - $5,300), who has three goals and five points in five outings. Mercer is projected to be on the top power-play unit alongside Hughes and Bratt.
Stars vs. Blue Jackets
Roope Hintz (C - $6,600), Mikko Rantanen (W - $7,500), Sam Steel (W - $3,600)
Rantanen showed last season, particularly in the playoffs, that he can excel with Dallas, and that has continued into the 2025-26 campaign. He already has three goals and seven points in five outings this season. Hintz has been similarly productive with a goal and six points in five appearances in 2025-26.
Steel, like Palat, is a different story. Steel has one assist in five appearances, and his career high in a regular season is 28 points. If you can afford him, Jason Robertson (W - $6,900) is a far better choice. He has two goals and six points in five outings, and he'll play alongside Hintz and Rantanen on the power play.
DEFENSEMEN
Cale Makar, COL at UTA ($6,900): Makar is always a strong option. He's recorded two goals and seven points in six outings, but while that would be a hot start for other, lesser defensemen, that's just the norm for him. He finished the 2024-25 regular season with 30 goals and 92 points in 80 appearances and might post similar numbers this year.
Jakob Chychrun, WAS vs. SEA ($5,900): Chychrun has two goals and five points through six appearances this season. Although he's not expected to maintain this pace -- it wouldn't be surprising if he still ends up finishing in the 40-50 point range like he did in each of the past two regular seasons -- the 27-year-old is a nice grab while he's hot.
Matthew Schaefer, NYI vs. SJS ($5,300): As already noted, the Sharks have struggled in their own zone this season, so it's a good day to take Islanders skaters. Schaefer is a particularly interesting option because the 18-year-old defenseman is on a five-game scoring streak (one goal, four assists) to open his NHL career. He's averaging 22:01 of ice time, including 3:04 with the man advantage, so the Islanders haven't been afraid to lean heavily on the rookie.
