Can't defend takedown in loss
Mariscal lost to Pat Sabatini via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 322 on Saturday in New York City.
ANALYSIS
A fight that went off as roughly a pick 'em ended up a total rout due to Mariscal's complete inability to defend a takedown. He was totally grounded by Sabatini throughout the duration of the fight, giving up seven takedowns and 10:37 worth of control time. That was essentially a death sentence for a fighter who relies on pace and activity to be successful. The 33-year-old Marsical had won each of his first five UFC fights entering the evening, so his roster spot is plenty secure despite the poor effort.

Sabatini up next
Mariscal is scheduled to compete against fellow featherweight Pat Sabatini at UFC 322 in New York City on Nov. 15, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Marsical and Sabatini will fight on less than a month's notice for an opportunity to compete in Madison Square Garden. The former will look to continue his winning ways after outlasting Ricardo Ramos in March.

Another dominant effort
Mariscal defeated Ricardo Ramos via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Vegas 103 on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Mariscal improves to 5-0 in the UFC with the effort and is certainly worthy of a quality opponent his next time out. This one was never particularly close, with Mariscal dominating both the total and significant striking numbers, in addition to logging a pair of takedowns for 2:35 of control time. A finish would have been nice as a favorite in the ballpark of (-425), and if there's one critique on Mariscal, it's that four of his five wins have gone to the judges. That said, the UFC should start to push the 32-year-old to see what it has in the Elevation Fight Team product.

Fighting Ramos in March
Mariscal will fight Ricardo Ramos at UFC Vegas 103 on March 1, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Mariscal's win over Damon Jackson in August gave him his fourth victory in as many fights since joining the UFC in 2023. He'll now look to make it five in a row against Ramos, who has lost two of his last three bouts but will have a size advantage over Mariscal.

Dominant win after weight miss
Mariscal defeated Damon Jackson via unanimous decision (30-25, 30-26, 30-25) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Marsical looked fantastic and would deserve all the credit in the world for this performance had he not missed weight by 3.5 pounds Friday morning. Once the bell rang, he was dominant. Over the course of the 15-minute bout, Chepe closed with a 218-49 edge in total strikes landed, in addition to connecting on 5-of-7 takedown attempts for 8:31 worth of control time. The toughness of Jackson was the only reason this fight went the distance. Mariscal has real potential if he can get the weight-cutting issues under control. He remains perfect in his first four UFC bouts.

Misses featherweight limit
Mariscal missed the featherweight limit by 3.5 pounds ahead of his scheduled bout with Damon Jackson for the co-main event at UFC Vegas 95 on Saturday, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Mariscal weighed in at 149.5 pounds. It's a borderline weight miss, but he'll likely need to come to some sort of agreement with Jackson in order for this fight to continue.
