Game Preview

Manchester City are in second place with 66 points and have won three of their last four matches in the Premier League, so they carry a decent degree of momentum ahead of Sunday's contest. The same can't be said about Southampton, though. Southampton's form has been disastrous at home, as they have lost 10 matches at St. Mary's Stadium while also conceding 2.06 goals per home fixture in 2019-20 – they sit at the bottom of the Premier League in both categories. It also doesn't help that the Citizens should have their morale at an all-time high since they're coming off a huge 4-0 win over Liverpool earlier this week. Manchester City cannot win the title anymore while Southampton are in 14th place, 13 points above the red zone. The Saints should be safe from relegation, so all signs point towards City being massive favorites, even away from home.

Top Picks

Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City: Raheem Sterling could be an attractive option since he has found the back of the net 13 times already, and he could be handed a prominent role on the attacking end. However, everything City do offensively starts with De Bruyne. The Belgium international has 11 goals and 17 assists this season, and no player in the league has recorded double-digit goals and assists this term. He also has three goals in five matches since the restart of the league.

Danny Ings, Southampton: It's odd to list one of the players from the underdog as a captaincy alternative, but Ings has been excellent for Southampton this season and has enough quality to create havoc in City's defensive line. The Englishman has three goals in three matches since the restart and remains one of the candidates to finish the season as top scorer, coming in with 18 goals.

Captain and Vice-Captain Options

  1. Kevin De Bruyne
  2. Danny Ings
  3. Raheem Sterling
