Wirtz (ankle) will be available for Saturday's clash with Union Berlin, according to manager Xabi Alonso.

Writz (ankle) will be training with the team on Friday but is aiming for a return next week for the clash against Union Berlin, coach Xabi Alonso said in the press conference, per Werkself Xtra. "Flo will participate in the first drill of team training today, and the plan, if all goes well, is for him to be in the squad against Union Berlin next week, not tomorrow."

Wirtz (ankle) was viewed working with the ball and completing drills by himself, according to Phillip Arens of Bild.de.

Wirtz (ankle) could return to competition earlier than expected after feeling good with his ankle, coach Xabi Alonso said in the press conference. "I talked with Flo. He feels better. He's close, he needs a little more time, but maybe he'll be back sooner than expected. His ankle feels good, and that's positive. We don't want to be conservative with Flo, we want to go full throttle and take a little risk. If he can play a little earlier, we'll take that risk. We can be optimistic that he'll return sooner than expected."
