DraftKings MLB: Sunday Picks

DraftKings MLB: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Gerrit Cole, PIT at SD ($10.900): This is a ripe spot to spend up for Cole. San Diego enters with a fourth-worst .306 wOBA and league-high 25.3 strikeout percentage against right-handed hurlers, and Cole has been locked in of late, allowing two runs or fewer in seven of his past eight outings while posting a 8.2 K/9.

R.A. Dickey, ATL at PHI ($6,400): Before allowing four runs in consecutive starts to the Diamondbacks and Cubs, Dickey posted a 1.09 ERA and 7.4 K/9 over a five-game stretch. Meanwhile, the Phillies have a target-worthy 23.7 strikeout percentage and .311 wOBA against right-handed hurlers.

CATCHER

Robinson Chirinos, TEX vs. BAL ($3,500): With a day game following a Saturday night contest, Chirinos should slide into the lineup. He draws a soft matchup, too, as Wade Miley has allowed a .384 wOBA to right-handed hitters this year and owns a 9.69 ERA over his past 10 starts. Chirinos enters with a .402 wOBA against lefties this season.

FIRST BASE

Mike Napoli, TEX vs. BAL ($4,400): A boom-or-bust option, Napoli sports a monster .343 ISO and solid .357 wOBA against southpaws this season. He doesn't break the bank and lands in the previously highlighted matchup against Wade Miley. Hitting in the heart of the lineup is another boost.

SECOND BASE

Jonathan Schoop, BAL at TEX ($5,000): With a .282 ISO and .385 wOBA against lefties this season, Schoop is a strong option at hitter-friendly Globe Life Park against Martin Perez, who has allowed a .366 wOBA and 38.5 hard-hit percentage to right-handed hitters this season.

THIRD BASE

Adrian Beltre, TEX vs. BAL ($4,900): This salary doesn't match Beltre's production against lefties, and he's another solid option in a Texas stack against Wade Miley. The veteran third baseman will likely be a popular target Sunday, but with a .404 wOBA against left-handed arms dating back to 2015, there's a lot to like.

SHORTSTOP

Eric Sogard, MIL vs. CHC ($3,200):John Lackey has struggled against left-handed hitters this season, allowing a 2.6 HR/9 and .381 wOBA them. Sogard has posted a .433 on-base percentage and .387 wOBA against right-handed hurlers this year, so his salary presents significant value. Additionally, he's also been leading off against righties.

OUTFIELD

Andrew McCutchen, PIT at SD ($4,700): This is a juicy matchup for McCutchen against Clayton Richard, as the southpaw has surrendered a .557 slugging percentage and .393 wOBA to right-handed batters this season. Meanwhile, McCutchen enters with a .441 on-base percentage and .460 wOBA against southpaws.

Khris Davis, OAK vs. MIN ($4,700):Bartolo Colon has allowed seven runs through nine innings over two starts since joining the Twins and surrendered a .418 wOBA to right-handed hitters for the season. Davis also owns better splits against righties with a .302 ISO and .372 wOBA, so hopefully the non-traditional handedness advantage slides under the radar.

Eduardo Nunez, BOS vs. KC ($3,500): Taking a flier on the low salary is in play with Nunez, as he's 5-for-9 since joining the Red Sox and has settled into the two-hole of the lineup. That's a cushy fantasy setup, and Jason Hammel has surrendered a target-worthy .298/357/.449 slash line to right-handed hitters this season.
