Monday's DFS action begins at 1:10 p.m. EDT with a tidy three-game slate including games also beginning at 2:07 p.m. EDT and 4:10 p.m. EDT. The main slate starts at the usual 7:05 p.m. EDT and features seven games with some big names toeing the rubber for their respective teams.
Pitchers
Shane Bieber, CLE at KC ($12,000): Yes, it's a ton of money to pay and basically you're expecting well north of 40 fantasy points for him to make his salary worth using. His lowest fantasy point total of the season was 37 but he's had at least 51 fantasy points in six other starts. The conundrum tonight is there is a Coors game, so it'll be tough to fit in a lot of players from that game while using Bieber. Kansas City's 23.6 percent strikeout rate against right-handed pitching is merely league average but their .311 wOBA is the seventh-lowest in baseball.
Brad Keller, KC vs. CLE ($8,100): Even for bigger tournaments, there's no one to trust below this price point, and Keller has a respectable 3.27 ERA at home for his career. Keller has improved his strikeout rate to 21.9 percent this season, and his 1.15 WHIP this season proves his 2.01 ERA isn't fluky. The Indians are a decent matchup as they're in the bottom half of the league for both wOBA (.318) and strikeout rate (24.6 percent) against right-handed pitching.
Top Targets
Bryce Harper, PHI vs. WAS ($4,300): Everyone will target the players at Coors Field tonight, so it's a nice contrarian play to spend up for upside players playing elsewhere. Harper has a career .391 wOBA and his opponent, Erick Fedde, has allowed a career .360 wOBA to opposing left-handed hitters. Harper is one of the few hitters capable of a multi-homer game as is Juan Soto ($4,700), who's in the other lineup.
Rafael Devers, BOS vs. ATL ($3,300): Devers has done a good job of seeing the ball lately and has translated that into 21.9 fantasy points or more in five of his last 11 games. Tonight's opposing pitcher, Ian Anderson, is only making his second big league start and isn't considered a top prospect despite a good debut. Devers has a .356 wOBA against right-handed pitching in his short career.
Value Bats
Edwin Encarnacion, CHW at MIN ($2,700): Encarnacion is typically a hit-or-miss type of player in DFS who still possesses a lot of power. Despite having a .181 batting average, Edwin has six home runs and a good matchup tonight. He has a career .373 wOBA against southpaws and he has a positive matchup against Rich Hill. Edwin has gone only 4-for-18 against Hill, but three of those hits were home runs.
Josh Bell, PIT at MIL ($2,800): It appears Bell is finally starting to heat up, going 5-for-10 over his last three games with two home runs. As of Sunday night, the pitcher for the Brewers was undetermined, which suggests it'll be a second- or third-tier pitcher. Bell has a career .358 hitting on the road and should be in a good RBI spot hitting cleanup.
Stacks to Consider
Red Sox vs. Ian Anderson: Devers, Xander Bogaerts ($3,500), Alex Verdugo ($3,100), Kevin Pillar ($3,000)
Devers had 53.8 fantasy points Sunday, and Bogaerts has scored more than 68 fantasy points over his last two contests. Pillar sets the table for those two hitting in the leadoff spot and has averaged more than 10 fantasy points per game this season. Verdugo has a career .342 wOBA against right-handed pitching and has scored fantasy points in 18 of his last 19 games. This is a complete fade of Ian Anderson who'll be making his first career road starts.
White Sox at Rich Hill: Encarnacion, Tim Anderson ($3,800), Jose Abreu ($4,000), Luis Robert ($3,400)
Anderson has a career .366 wOBA against lefties for his career and brings the speed element at the top of the lineup. Abreu has a career .390 wOBA vs. southpaws, and Luis Robert is one of the best prospects in the game. Hill hasn't pitched past the fifth inning yet this season and his fastball has been down almost two miles per hour this season.
