Yahoo DFS Basketball: Monday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

The NBA will bring plenty of action to the table Monday with 10 games on the schedule. One game to keep an eye on features the Sixers hosting the Rockets

In the Rockets' last game, Christian Wood refused to check back into the game after not starting, and Kevin Porter Jr. left the arena after a halftime altercation with a member of the coaching staff. Both players were ultimately suspended for tonight's matchup against the Sixers.

The Bulls, who have won consecutive games on last-second three-pointers by DeMar DeRozan, will look to stat hot in a matchup against the Magic. Let's highlight some players to consider for your Yahoo lineups, as well as a few to potentially avoid.

GUARDS

Bradley Beal, WAS vs. CHA ($39): Across two games since returning from the health and safety protocols, Beal has scored 52.2 and 64.9 Yahoo points, respectively. Spencer Dinwiddie (COVID-19) missed both of those games, which helped Beal rack up a total of 27 assists. With the expectation that Dinwiddie is out again Monday, Beal could post another monster stat line against a Hornets team that has played at the fastest pace in the league.

Anfernee Simons, POR vs. ATL ($10): The good news for the Blazers is that Simons has exited the health and safety protocols and should play in this matchup. The bad news is that Damian Lillard (abdomen) has already been ruled out. Simons could see both added playing time and shot attempts with Lillard out, making him an ideal value-play option against a Hawks team that has the sixth-worst defensive rating in the league.

Guard to Avoid

Devonte' Graham, NO vs. UTA ($19): This is a tough matchup for Graham with the Jazz recording the sixth-best defensive rating in the league. He's faced them two times already this season, scoring 26.4 and 12.2 Yahoo points, respectively. Simons has arguably similar upside at nearly half the salary, so taking a chance on Graham seems unnecessary.

FORWARDS

Kyle Kuzma, WAS vs. CHA ($25): With either Beal or Dinwiddie out each of the last three games, Kuzma scored at least 22 points each time. The key was that he averaged 18.0 shot attempts during that stretch, compared to his season average of 12.1 attempts per game. With this favorable matchup and Dinwiddie likely out again, Kuzma could thrive.

Marcus Morris Sr., LAC vs. MIN ($20): The Clippers decided not to play Morris in Saturday's win over the Nets, giving him the night off after they had just played Friday. He's been on a roll with Paul George (elbow) out, averaging 19.6 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists over his last seven games. There have been no positive updates regarding George's status, so look for Morris to continue in an expanded role.

Forward to Avoid

Miles Bridges, CHA at WAS ($33): Bridges made his return from the health and safety protocols Sunday, scoring 23.1 Yahoo points across 26 minutes against the Suns. The Hornets were blown out, so the Hornets were able to ease Bridges back into action. However, this is a tough spot playing on consecutive nights against a Wizards team that limited him to 16.0 Yahoo points the last time these two teams met.

CENTERS

Joel Embiid, PHI vs. HOU ($50): This game has blowout written all over it when you factor in the disfunction surrounding the Rockets right now. Look for Embiid to capitalize with a big night. He's scored at least 52.8 Yahoo points in five of his last six games and the Rockets have the second-worst defensive rating in the league.

Daniel Gafford, WAS vs. CHA ($19): Gafford averaged 29 minutes over the last three games with Montrezl Harrell (COVID-19) out, which is a significant increase compared to his season average of 22 minutes per game. He didn't disappoint, scoring at least 33.7 Yahoo points in each game. Not only should he continue to play more, but this is a great matchup for him given that the Hornets have allowed the most rebounds per game in the league.

Center to Avoid

Mason Plumlee, CHA at WAS ($20): When Bridges and P.J Washington were both in the protocols for two games, Plumlee scored 43.3 and 32.4 Yahoo points, respectively. However, with Bridges back Sunday, he scored only 11.1 Yahoo points over 18 minutes. With the potential that Washington returns for this game, Plumlee could fill a limited role.
