Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

The NBA has light slate Tuesday with only three games on the schedule. Injuries could play a prominent role, including in a matchup between the Nets and Mavericks in which Luka Doncic (ankle) is questionable to play. The Celtics get Al Horford back from his one-game absence when they play the Lakers, but Jaylen Brown (hamstring) is questionable. With all of that in mind, here are some players to consider for your Yahoo lineups, as well as a few to potentially avoid.

GUARD

James Harden, BKN at DAL ($47): Harden had an off night Saturday against the Bulls, scoring 14 points on 5-for-21 shooting from the field. However, he still had seven rebounds and 14 assists on his way to 46.4 Yahoo points. His ability to contribute in different areas has helped him score at least 41.9 Yahoo points in eight consecutive games. Expect him to be one of the safer players for this slate, regardless of position.

Alec Burks, NY at SA ($19): Burks has thrived as the Knicks starting point guard, scoring at least 33.9 Yahoo points in three of the last four games. He logged at least 39 minutes in all three of those games, which isn't a major surprise given how much coach Tom Thibodeau likes to play his starters. At this reasonable salary, his new role leaves him with significant upside.

Guard to Avoid

Russell Westbrook, LAL vs. BOS ($40): Has anyone been less impressive than Westbrook when averaging 20.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game? He's struggling with his efficiency again, shooting 44.6 percent from the field and 68.4 percent from the free-throw line. He's also averaged an ugly 4.6 turnovers per game. This is tough matchup for him against the Celtics, who have the ninth-best defensive rating in the league. The last time these two teams met, Westbrook was held to 26.8 Yahoo points.

FORWARD

Julius Randle, NY at SA ($36): Alec Burks moving into the starting five might actually be a good thing for Randle. Burks isn't much of a passer, which means Randle will be asked to help facilitate for his teammates more. He's responded with at least six assists in three consecutive games. That helped him score at least 43.4 Yahoo points in each.

DeAndre' Bembry, BKN at DAL ($12): With so few teams playing, finding a viable player with a cheap salary isn't easy. Bembry has taken on an expanded role for the Nets lately, averaging 29 minutes in their last seven games. He's used his added opportunities to score at least 22.5 Yahoo points in four of the last five games.

Forward to Avoid

RJ Barrett, NY at SA ($18): Barrett has struggled with his jumper, shooting 39.6 percent from the field. He provides limited assists and virtually nothing in terms of defensive stats, so if his shot isn't falling, it's difficult to justify adding him to your DFS lineup. He comes into this contest having scored 24.9 Yahoo points or fewer in six of his last seven games.

CENTER

Jakob Poeltl, SA at NY ($23): It's not often that Poeltl has the highest salary among centers, but here we are. While he might not be flashy, he's averaged 12.1 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 blocks in his last seven games. The Knicks have plenty of size up front, so Poeltl, who already averages 29 minutes per game, should spend plenty of time on the floor.

LaMarcus Aldridge, BKN at DAL ($19): The Nets didn't play Aldridge a lot of minutes off the bench earlier this season, but when he was on the floor, he performed well. He's worked his way into a larger role, averaging 30 minutes in the last eight games. With averages of 17.0 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks during that stretch, don't expect him to return to a limited role anytime soon.

Center to Avoid

Mitchell Robinson, NY at SA ($14): When Robinson has logged at least 30 minutes a game this season, he's averaged 11.3 points, 12.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks. The problem is, he's only reached that threshold three times. With Nerlens Noel and Taj Gibson both healthy behind him, it's difficult to justify Robinson with his likely muted role when Aldridge is playing so much for the Nets, and has a salary that is only $5 more.
