Hornets Come Back, Defeat Timberwolves
The Charlotte Hornets defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, 110-108, at Spectrum Center on Friday.

The Hornets (6-14) have had a rough season and have been struggling on both ends of the court, but they managed to deliver a strong performance here to get past the Timberwolves (10-9) in a game that was extremely tight. Minnesota enjoyed a stronger start and looked good in the early going, securing a 34-29 lead in the first quarter, and the Western Conference franchise reached a 10-point lead at the halftime break following a 28-23 score in the second quarter. However, Charlotte flipped the script admirably and outscored their rivals by an impressive 39-21 score in the start of the second half, grabbing an eight-point lead with only 12 minutes left. Minnesota attempted a comeback and won the final score by a 25-19 score, but it wasn’t enough, and they paid a steep price for their poor third-quarter performance. Minnesota came close to two points several times, but they couldn’t complete the comeback.

Kelly Oubre Jr. was the best player for the Hornets in this game, finishing with 28 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists. Terry Rozier notched 22 points, eight assists and four rebounds, and P.J. Washington finished with 16 points and three rebounds. Jalen McDaniels posted eight points, six rebounds and three assists, and Theo Maledon had a strong game off the bench with 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists despite not starting.

Anthony Edwards was the best player for Minnesota since he ended up with 25 points, five rebounds and four assists, while D’Angelo Russell racked up with 20 points, 10 assists and four rebounds. Karl-Anthony Towns ended with 19 points, five assists and four rebounds, and Rudy Gobert finished with 17 points, 17 rebounds, two steals, two blocks and one assist.
