DFS College Basketball: Wednesday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

Tonight's CBB action features four top-25 teams, with DraftKings featuring an eight-game slate and a $3k top prize in the $15 Pull Up Jumper. Over on FanDuel, we have five games in the $5.55 All-American and a $1,000 first place payout. Both have a 7 p.m. EST start time.

Targets

D'Mitrik Trice, G, Wisconsin ($7,300 DK, $7,100 FD)

The last time I wrote about Trice was Christmas Day when he was nearly $2,000 cheaper, but he's seen his salary increase since erupting for 29 points against Michigan St. There's still value with Trice at a second-tier salary, as he's scored 20+ in four of his last six games and usually contributes with a handful of rebounds and assists. Northwestern has allowed 80+ in each of their last five games, and Trice has the ball in his hands on every possession and is likely to see 35 minutes. That gives him a great floor with tremendous upside.

Jalen Tate, G, Arkansas ($6,100 DK)

Although the Auburn/Arkansas match-up isn't included in the FanDuel action tonight, it's the highest over/under total on the DraftKings slate and a good place to start if you're looking to stack at least a few players from one game. Tate is a good option at an average salary, with two double-digit assist games on his resume this season. Although he's not the first option offensively, he's shown great efficiency by shooting 60 percent from inside-the-arc and 35 percent from three.

Olivier Sarr, F, Kentucky ($5,400 DK, $5,500 FD)

Through Kentucky's struggles on the offensive end thus far, Sarr has been one of the most consistent options and has played better since the start of conference play. The 7-0 center will get a favorable matchup tonight against a Georgia team whose tallest starter is 6-8. Sarr also does a good job of getting to the line with multiple games with double-digit free throw attempts, where he's connecting on over 70 percent of his attempts. At this salary you only need about 20 fantasy points for him to live up to his salary which should be easily attainable.

Fades

Jose Alvarado, G, Georgia Tech ($9,200 DK, $8,000 FD)

Alvarado is one of the top-3 most expensive players on both sites tonight and while he usually provides a lot of upside, I think it's better to fade him against a Clemson team that is one of the best in the country defensively. He's not prone to a bad game, in fact, he's been held to 11 points or less while playing at least 30 minutes four times this season. With this being the lowest over/under on today's slate, I'm more inclined to look at lower-salary options if you want to roster anyone from this match-up.

Nate Watson, F, Providence ($7,900 DK, $7,900 FD)

On paper it looks like a good spot to use Watson, as Creighton doesn't start anyone over 6-7 against the 6-10 Watson. However, Creighton is only allowing opponents to shoot 43 percent from two-point range this season -- good for 12th in the country. They'll use double-teams to slow Watson down, which they did in a meeting earlier this year where Watson was held to just 4-of-11 shooting. A.J. Reeves ($5,600 DK, $4,800 FD) should have plenty of three-point opportunities and is a good pivot off the pricier Watson.

Justin Gorham, F, Houston ($7,200 DK, $5,900 FD)

Gorham has a salary $1,300 higher on DraftKings than FanDuel, making it quite difficult to roster him on that platform. There's no denying his efficiency thus far with a 55/47/76 percentage stat line, but he averages less than five shot attempts per game, and it's not uncommon for him to only see 20-25 minutes. In an earlier-season matchup against Tulsa, Gorham only posted eight points and six rebounds. Against a defensive-minded and slow-paced Tulsa team, there will be better opportunities to plug Gorham into your lineup.
