Fantasy College Basketball Waiver Wire: Pickups of the Week

Conference play is on the horizon, but these next two weeks still count. Many power conference teams will have matchups to exploit before non-conference play is over. We'll break down the players and teams to target in an important part of the schedule that could set your team up for a run at the title.

Power Conferences

Kwame Evans, F/C, Oregon (Fantrax Ownership: 6%)

Evans has really come on the last few weeks, averaging 15.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 three-pointers over the last six games. Part of that production also has to do with the fact that center Nate Bittle has been struggling with injury of late. It's unclear how much longer that will last, but Oregon has games against Portland, Gonzaga and Nebraska Omaha to close 2025. Evans needs to be owned in more than just six percent of Fantrax leagues.

Johann Grunloh, F/C, Virginia (11%)

Grunloh ranks inside the top 10 in the country in blocks at 2.9 BPG. That alone gives him a lot of value, especially in roto leagues. The 7-foot freshman is also averaging 11.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and

Grunloh ranks inside the top 10 in the country in blocks at 2.9 BPG. That alone gives him a lot of value, especially in roto leagues. The 7-foot freshman is also averaging 11.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.3 three-pointers over the last four games. Grunloh and Virginia will take on Maryland, American and Virginia Tech to close out 2025.

Don McHenry, G, Utah (5%)

McHenry was a big-time scorer last season for Western Kentucky, but has raised his level since joining a power conference team and now is putting up a career-high 18.5 PPG with Utah. He is also hitting 2.4 treys per contest and knocking them down at a 39-percent clip. McHenry and Terrence Brown (21.6 PPG) combine to form one of the highest scoring backcourts in the country. Utah will finish non-conference play with Eastern Washington and then Washington.

Themus Fulks, G, UCF (6%)

Fulks is on his fourth different school and has been a big piece to the puzzle that has led UCF to an 8-1 start. Fulks is tied for fourth in the country at 7.4 APG. Over his last six games he is putting up 12.5 points, 8.2 assists and 3.7 rebounds. Fulks will continue to have the ball in his hands a lot as we get into conference play. UCF closes the non-conference schedule with Mercer, Florida Gulf Coast and Florida Atlantic.

Kowacie Reeves, G/F/C, Georgia Tech (1%)

Reeves had never averaged over 10 PPG in four previous seasons. So far this season he is up to 14.8 PPG. Reeves is also shooting a career-best 40.7 percent from deep (2.7 3PM). Reeves is coming off two straight games scoring 23 points, including one against Mississippi State where he also went for nine boards and six steals. He should dominate against Marist, Lafayette and Florida A&M to close the non-conference schedule.

Parsa Fallah, F/C, Oklahoma State (4%)

Fallah suffered a back injury in the last game against Oklahoma and was limited to just 10 minutes. It's not believed to be anything too serious. In Fallah's previous three games he averaged 20.7 points and 8.0 rebounds. The 6-10 big man is coming on at just the right time as we approach conference play. Fallah is a great long-term option on a team playing at a very high pace.

Isaac Asuma, G, Minnesota (2%)

Asuma is coming on since the start of December averaging 11.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.0 three-pointers and 1.3 steals over the last four games. Asuma was a strong sixth man for the Gophers last season, but this year he seems to have really found his groove. Minnesota gets Campbell and Fairleigh Dickinson to close 2025 where Asuma should have no issues continuing to produce across all categories.

Jayden Epps, G, Mississippi State (3%)

Epps has been on fire since entering the starting lineup. Over these last five games he is averaging 19.4 points, 2.8 three-pointers, 2.4 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting 49 percent from the field and 40 percent from deep. There's little in the way of offensive production for Mississippi State outside of their backcourt of Epps, Josh Hubbard (20.4 PPG) and Ja'Borri McGhee (11.0 PPG). The Bulldogs take on LIU, Memphis and Alabama State to close out the non-conference schedule.

Other Conferences

Styles Phipps, G, Pepperdine

Phipps was mostly an afterthought last season at Grand Canyon, but this year he is proving that he can very much be a lead guard at this level. Phipps is filling up the stat sheet this season averaging 11.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.2 steals through the first 11 games. That kind of rebounding rate is pretty impressive for a 6-2 guard. Pepperdine will get Long Beach State and Rice this week.

Ty-Laur Johnson, G, San Diego

Johnson was a solid role player the last two seasons at Lousiville and then Wake Forest. This season he is emerging as a go-to-player for San Diego. Since being moved into the starting lineup Johnson is putting up 15.1 points, 3.7 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals over the last seven games. This would be a great time to jump on Johnson if your league includes the WCC considering San Diego still has four games before the calendar turns.

Deyton Albury, G, New Mexico

Albury has emerged as a valuable fantasy asset of later, averaging 14.4 points, 4.6 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals over his past five games. Albury is putting up all those numbers in just 24.8 minutes per contest. You'd think that number would have to rise as we approach MWC play, and hopefully the production will follow.

Kimani Hamilton, F/C, UNLV

UNLV might only be 4-6 so far this season, but they rank top 20 in adjusted tempo per KenPom, which makes them a pretty fantasy friendly system. Taking advantage of that has been their second-leading scorer of Hamilton (12.3 PPG). The 6-8 forward is also averaging 5.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Those numbers are pretty on par for what he put up the last two seasons at High Point when he was First-Team All-Conference.
