American Conference Waiver Wire Pickups
Jalen Kitna, QB, UAB (5 Percent Rostered)
Kitna is a high-volume passer at 38.6 attempts per game. With Vegas expecting a high-scoring affair with FAU, Kitna is in play this week as he could easily throw for multiple scores. He does already have two touchdown passes in four of five games. In 2024, he threw for six TDs in a Week 10 game against Tulsa, so he's completely capable of having a breakout fantasy performance.
Jayshon Platt, WR, Florida Atlantic (7 Percent Rostered)
Because we can't go back to Drayden Dickmann (57 percent rostered), let's move on to Platt. He has an excellent match-up with UAB this week and is averaging 7.8 targets per game. Teammate Easton Messer (99 percent rostered) is a beast at 20.3 fantasy points per game, but this game is going to have enough offense that it should make Platt startable this week. Most of the stud receivers are rostered across the nation, so it's time to get creative later in the season.
Week 6 Rewind: Memphis QB Brendon Lewis (33.3 points - 22/30, 266 YDS, 3 TD, 2 INT, 14 ATT, 67 YDS, 1 TD) & Rice WR Drayden Dickmann (16.2 points - 4/5 TAR, 61 YDS, 1 TD, 1 ATT, 1 YDS)
ACC Waiver Wire Pickups
Robby Ashford, QB, Wake Forest (5 Percent Rostered)
Ashford and the Demon Deacons travel to the west coast to play an Oregon State defense that has not been great against opposing quarterbacks. The dual-threat QB hasn't done a lot through the air with two touchdowns and four interceptions, but he does have 233 yards and four scores on the ground. This is a great spot start for fantasy rosters, and he's available in nearly all leagues.
Micah Ford, RB, Stanford (26 Percent Rostered)
Ford is averaging 14.9 fantasy points per game with 16.6 touches per game. That's ideal volume at the running back position for fantasy rosters. Even when he couldn't find running room against San Jose State in Week 5, he made an impact in the passing game with four catches for 64 yards. Ford is a solid player and can be used against SMU this week.
Week 6 Rewind: Virginia QB Chandler Morris (10.7 points - 19/31, 149 YDS, 1 TD, 7 ATT, 7 YDS) & Duke RB Nate Sheppard (22.7 points - 12 ATT, 91 YDS, 2 TD, 1/1 TAR, 6 YDS)
BIG 12 Waiver Wire Pickups
Cameron Dickey, RB, Texas Tech (38 Percent Rostered)
Teammate J'Koby Williams (71 percent rostered) is on more fantasy rosters, yet it's Dickey who has been more productive at 18.3 fantasy points per game. Dickey has seven total touchdowns in five games while Williams has scored five times. Dickey has also received more carries than Williams in each of the last three games. Both are great runners, and this Texas Tech offense is so explosive that it can easily justify making both of these players fantasy viable. Dickey should continue to see sustained success against Big 12 defenses. WR Reggie Virgil (28 percent rostered) is also worth consideration this week.
Dallen Bentley, TE, Utah (35 Percent Rostered)
Bentley and the Utes are coming off a bye which is why he's available in so many leagues. He's been one of the most consistent tight ends all year at 12.9 fantasy points per game. He has a touchdown in three of five games and is averaging 5.8 targets per game. Utah is always going to feature their tight ends, so he's a great play against Arizona State this week.
Week 6 Rewind: Houston QB Conner Weigman (2.5 points - 5/12, 71 YDS, 1 INT, 6 ATT, 7 YDS *Left w/ Injury) & Cincinnati WR Cyrus Allen (5.2 points - 3/4 TAR, 22 YDS)
Big Ten Waiver Wire Pickups
Kwazi Gilmer, WR, UCLA (25 Percent Rostered)
The Bruins surprised the entire country with their upset of Penn State this past weekend. Gilmer was great while hauling in five catches (on seven targets) for 79 yards and a touchdown. It was his second straight game with a score. He's been solid all year though with 13.3 fantasy points per game on eight targets per game. With UCLA's defenses struggling most weeks, Gilmer sees plenty of opportunities as the team's top receiving option.
Lance Mason, TE, Wisconsin (17 Percent Rostered)
In his last four games, Mason has been a pivotal piece for the Badgers offense at 4.3 catches (on 6.5 targets) per game. In those games, he has 17 catches for 207 yards and two touchdowns. The Badgers are not very good, so Mason should continue to see those targets as Wisconsin fights from behind against opponents each and every week. He's available in too many leagues with this volume of targets.
Week 6 Rewind: Nebraska TE Luke Lindenmeyer (1.6 points - 1/1 TAR, 6 YDS) & Northwestern WR Griffin Wilde (15.4 points - 3/5 TAR, 64 YDS, 1 TD)
C-USA Waiver Wire Pickups
Trequan Jones, RB, Old Dominion (41 Percent Rostered)
Jones is a monster fantasy performance waiting to happen. He's averaging 9.4 yards per carry with 48 carries scattered across his last four games. He scored all four of his touchdowns this season in two games in Week 2 and Week 3, but he does have double-digit touches in each of his last three games which suggests the scores are coming. He'll have an excellent opportunity for scores against a Marshall defense which has struggled against the run.
Eli Finley, TE, Louisiana Tech (6 Percent Rostered)
This is a risky recommendation because Finley has zero fantasy points in two of his last three games. However, in that other game, he was glorious with 24.4 fantasy points behind six catches for 154 yards. Tight end is not a deep position, so you have to take chances if you want to bring home those wins on a weekly basis. Finley is still looking for that first touchdown this season and it's going to come at some point.
Week 6 Rewind: NMST TE Gavin Harris (1.7 points - 1/3 TAR, 7 YDS) & Delaware QB Nick Minicucci (37.1 points - 28/47, 314 YDS, 1 INT, 12 ATT, 55 YDS, 3 TD)
MAC Waiver Wire Pickups
Dontae McMillan, RB, Eastern Michigan (15 Percent Rostered)
Pretty much all of the Eagles' playmakers have been recommended except McMillan. He's been amazing this year at 19.2 fantasy points per game. He's coming off his best performance of the season with 22 total touches for 163 yards and two touchdowns. He has four total scores on the year and his volume keeps trending up. He should be a consistent option during MAC play each and every week which is what you're looking for in this conference.
Jacquon Gibson, WR, UMass (20 Percent Rostered)
It looks like Gibson is going to be a mainstay on this article for the entire season which is okay because his statistics are fun to watch. He's still averaging 12 targets per game and that's realistically not going to change because UMass is not a good team. They'll go up against Kent State who are similarly bad, so this could be the breakout week for Gibson. He did open up the season with 12 catches for 132 yards (28.2 fantasy points) against Temple, however, there's going to be a week where he's even better than that.
Week 6 Rewind: UMass WR Jacquon Gibson (13.0 points - 6/8 TAR, 70 YDS) & Eastern Michigan TE Joshua Long (4.7 points - 3/5 TAR, 17 YDS)
Mountain West Waiver Wire Pickups
Liam Szarka, QB, Air Force (28 Percent Rostered)
Szarka went crazy against Navy with 45.7 fantasy points. Although the Falcons did take the loss, it wasn't because of their quarterback who racked up four total touchdowns and 364 total yards. Szarka has three straight games with at least 100 rushing yards. In his last four games, he has 13 total touchdowns. They'll go up against UNLV this week and the game could be the highest scoring contest of the week. He's the top recommendation at QB because of the rushing volume.
Latrell Caples, WR, Boise State (4 Percent Rostered)
Caples saw a season-high 10 targets at Notre Dame and has at least eight targets in four of five games this year. He's the Broncos' top receiver and his volume suggests he should have more than two touchdowns, both of which were scored in Week 5. The Mountain West defenses are going to be easier than what they have faced so far, so expect a jump in fantasy production for Caples moving forward.
Week 6 Rewind: Air Force QB Liam Szarka (45.7 points - 11/19, 212 YDS, 2 TD, 25 ATT, 152 YDS, 2 TD, 1 FL) & San Jose State WR Kyri Shoels (15.1 points - 7/7 TAR, 81 YDS)
SEC Waiver Wire Pickups
Mike Washington, RB, Arkansas (48 Percent Rostered)
Washington has double-digit touches in four of five games this year. The game between Tennessee and Arkansas has the potential to be one of the highest scoring games of the year. These are the type of trends you want to see when setting your fantasy line-up this week. The New Mexico State transfer has been good with the Razorbacks with 61 carries for 393 yards and four touchdowns while also hauling in seven catches for 99 yards and another score. When you take out the game against a tough Notre Dame defense, he's averaging 20.1 fantasy points per game.
Harrison Wallace, WR, Ole Miss (48 Percent Rostered)
Wallace is the Rebels' number one receiver, however, he's coming off just two catches for 22 yards in his last two games. There's a lot of bad luck here as he still had a combined nine targets in those two games. As long as he continues to see similar opportunities, he should return to the 22.3 fantasy points her was averaging in the team's first three games. The talented transfer from Penn State is averaging seven targets per game and he has the upside to be a starter each and every week in most fantasy line-ups.
Week 6 Rewind: Oklahoma QB Michael Hawkins (27.8 points - 14/24, 162 YDS, 3 TD, 9 ATT, 33 YDS, 1 TD) & Kentucky RB Seth McGowan (8.5 points - 11 ATT, 44 YDS, 3/4 TAR, 21 YDS, 1 FL)
Sun Belt Waiver Wire Pickups
Braylon Braxton, QB, Southern Miss (42 Percent Rostered)
Braxton has at least 20 fantasy points in all five games this season. He'll go up against Georgia Southern this week which could be the softest defense he'll face to date. That means he has a good chance of surpassing the 23.1 fantasy points he's been averaging. Moreover, he's a dual-threat quarterback that has double digit carries in four of five games. Due to being on a bye last week, he is right under the 50 percent roster percentage needed to qualify for this article.
OJ Arnold, RB, Georgia Southern (22 Percent Rostered)
Here's a sneaky play because Arnold is coming off an underwhelming performance of just 10 yards on four carries at James Madison in Week 5. JMU's defense is really good, so it's going to be a completely different game plan against Southern Miss this week. Prior to that game against the Dukes, Arnold was averaging 14.8 fantasy points per game which included 29.3 fantasy points versus Jacksonville State in Week 3. Arnold should bounce back with an impressive performance this week.
Week 6 Rewind: JMU RB Wayne Knight (18.5 points - 13 ATT, 85 YDS, 1 TD, 3/6 TAR, 10 YDS) & Arkansas State WR Chauncy Cobb (10.9 points - 7/8 TAR, 39 YDS)
INDEPENDENTS & PAC-12 Waiver Wire Pickups
CJ Carr, QB, Notre Dame (39 Percent Rostered)
Let's go back to Carr who has eight touchdowns and no interceptions in his last three games. Notre Dame's passing game, including throws to their running backs, is legit this year. The Irish are typically known for leaning on the run-game, but Carr is averaging 25.4 passing attempts and 256.0 passing yards per game. That's enough volume to trust Carr in fantasy line-ups against NC State and USC the next two weeks. RB Jadarian Price (49 percent rostered) is still in play as well.
Week 6 Rewind: Notre Dame RB Jadarian Price (14.3 points - 8 ATT, 83 YDS, 1 TD)
DEFENSE & KICKER RECOMMENDATIONS
Defense
SMU (vs. Stanford) - Stanford has one of the worst offenses in the country and the Mustangs are already averaging 10.1 fantasy points per game. Rostered in just 26 percent of leagues.
JMU (vs. Louisiana) - The Dukes have 12 sacks in their last three games and are averaging 10.5 fantasy points per game. Available in 70 percent of leagues.
Mississippi (vs. Washington State) - Here's this week's SEC defense of the week since they are playing Washington State and are rostered in 18 percent of leagues.
Week 6 Rewind: Oklahoma vs. Kent State (25.5 points - 0 PA, 5 SK, 2 TA, 1 TD), Old Dominion vs. Coastal Carolina (14.0 points - 7 PA, 4 SK, 2 TA) & USF vs. Charlotte (6.5 points - 26 PA, 1 SK, 4 TA, 1 Safety)
Kicker
Garrison Smith, FAU - FAU and UAB is supposed to be high-scoring, so that's where we should go with recommending kickers. Available in 92 percent of leagues too.
Kansei Matsuzawa, Hawaii - Rostered in 45 percent of leagues and was on a bye last week. They play Utah State late on Saturday, so let Matsuzawa bring home the fantasy win for your roster.
Aidan Birr, Georgia Tech - Birr has been one of the best in the nation at 10.2 fantasy points per game. Available in 63 percent of leagues.
Week 6 Rewind: Oklahoma Tate Sandell (14.0 points - 3/3 FG, 5/5 XP), USF Nico Gramatica (10.0 points - 1/1 FG, 7/7 XP), Texas State Tyler Robles (6.0 points - 1/1 FG, 3/4 XP)
