Georgia vs Georgia Tech Betting Picks for Week 14
We already mentioned the age of this rivalry, and we were treated with one of the most dramatic editions of the series last year, a 44-42 overtime nailbiter that went Georgia's way. It's a perfect example of how the hard numbers have to be thrown out during rivalry week, because honestly, anything can happen.
Georgia and Georgia Tech are currently two teams headed in different directions. The Yellow Jackets have lost two of their last three games, while the Bulldogs have rattled off seven wins since their three-point loss to Alabama. They've taken down some of the FBS's best teams, with signature wins against Texas, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. They'll enter the College Football Playoff with one of the best resumes among the 12-team field. They could probably afford a loss and still get in, but rivalry weekends are all about bragging rights, and Kirby Smart won't take the game lightly.
I think a crucial factor in this contest is Georgia Tech's issues against the pass. They've let some mediocre quarterbacks pick them apart, and Georgia QB Gunner Stockton has taken a giant leap forward after looking a bit pedestrian earlier in the season. Stockton probably won't get a ticket to New York, but there is an argument for him as a Heisman finalist. Georgia Tech's quarterback has been in the Heisman conversation from Week 1. Georgia Tech's success or failure relies heavily on which version of Haynes King we will see on Friday.
The Bulldogs failed miserably in an attempt to contain him last season, and I doubt they will make the same mistake. If Tech had won the game against Pittsburgh, they'd be 10-1 with a stamped ticket to the ACC Championship.
Now, they'll need an inspired night from King and help from a host of teams to get an ACC Championship, and win again to have a shot in the CFP bracket. You can bet that OC Buster Faulkner, who is one of the best offensive minds in college football, has drafted some ways to exploit Georgia's defense, but all Georgia has to do is keep King from taking over the game.
Georgia's defense, which is strong year in and year out, has improved from the squad that allowed the squeaker against Tech last season, despite metrics that might suggest otherwise.

Georgia vs Georgia Tech Predictions for Week 14
The duel between King and Stockton will dominte most of the headlines from this game, but let's look a little deeper to see who wins bsttles elewhere on the roster.. We just mentioned Georgia's defense, and a look at Georgia Tech's defensive unit reveals several cracks in the foundation. They rank 77th in PPG Allowed and a dreadful 106th in Total Yards Allowed. Georgia has poor defensive performances on its resume (like vs. Ole Miss), and it has one glaring shortcoming. The Bulldogs are all over the Top 20 in every major defensive category, but they rank 49th in passing yards allowed. Tech won't have much success running against the Bulldogs' defensive front, which will also hurry King on nearly every down. King will need a quick release and quick feet to gain the edge in this matchup.
Elsewhere, Georgia seems to have a clear edge in the running game, with Nate Frazier and a slew of capable backups poised to pick apart Georgia Tech's defense. The Bulldogs also have the best receiving corps they've fielded in recent memory, with Zachariah Branch, Dillon Bell, and Noah Thomas benefiting from Stockton's proficient arm. The Yellow Jackets also have excellent options in Eric Rivers and a surging Isiah Canion. Still, the unquestioned offensive catalyst is King, who will be the deciding factor for the Yellow Jackets. I predict a sizeable line from the Heisman hopeful, but his defense will ultimately betray him.
Even so, the Yellow Jackets will keep this close enough to cover the two-touchdown spread.
Georgia 34, Georgia Tech 24
Georgia vs Georgia Tech Player Props for Friday, November 28
Gunner Stockton, QB, Georgia - Over 238.5 Passing Yards (FanDuel)
FanDuel was the best spot I found for a Stockton Over. Georgia Tech's secondary is porous, and I think Stockton will take advantage. This factor also justifies my second pick.
Dillon Bell, WR, Georgia - Over 18.5 Receiving Yards (PrizePicks)
Although Bell isn't Stockton's top target, this number is ridiculously low, and Bell can probably bust through this total with one catch.
