Heads to Jets in fourth round
The Jets selected Smith in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 110th overall.
ANALYSIS
Smith waited his turn in a crowded Georgia receiver room and rarely played through his first four seasons. However, he racked up 48 receptions, a team-high 817 receiving yards and four touchdowns in his fifth season. His 4.36 40-yard dash and 19.9 yards per catch during his career signal that he'll be a deep threat at the next level, although his route running and hands need some polish. The Jets have no clear order after No. 1 wideout Garrett Wilson, so Smith could have a role immediately, even if it's in a decoy capacity at first.

Could put the Jet in jet sweeps
The Jets will likely use Smith on smoke routes and jet sweeps to utilize his speed out of the gate, and the team is hopeful that Smith can fix the drop issues that plagued him at Georgia, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
If not for his SEC-leading 10 drops in 2024, Smith likely would have been gone long before Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft, when the Jets scooped the speedster up with the 110th overall pick. Smith's 4.36 speed is complemented by good route running ability, which helped him post 817 receiving yards for Georgia despite the drops. The Jets will likely try to get him the ball near the line of scrimmage where catches are easier to make so Smith can focus on outrunning defenders with the ball in his hands. Smith could also contribute on special teams out of the gate as a gunner.
