2025 Fantasy Outlook
A year ago someone might have sooner figured Gordon a first-round pick than a sixth-round pick, but things can change quickly for collegiate running back prospects, especially when their numbers fall off like they did for Gordon between 2023 and 2024. The sixth-round pick out of Oklahoma State was a veritable Heisman candidate in 2023, running for 1,732 yards and 21 touchdowns at 6.1 yards per carry, but in 2024 those figures fell to 880 yards and 13 touchdowns at 4.6 yards per carry. Those numbers aren't so bad if you split the difference, but the gap between those two years will always be jarring. At 6-foot-1, 226 pounds Gordon has a somewhat prolonged stride which can trip him up when his offensive line gets caved in, but once he picks up momentum Gordon can quickly become a concerning proposition for a squared-up defender. Gordon can produce a heavy anchor to bowl over defenders, especially when he has some velocity to channel into the collision. When Gordon can pave over the second line of defense he becomes a big-play threat against defenders who generally aren't built to bring him down. Gordon has a steep hill to climb but clearly has some amount of talent to work with, and as a power specialist he clearly stands out relative to smallish burners like De'Von Achane and Jaylen Wright. As the only power back otherwise Alexander Mattison might be Gordon's primary competition on the depth chart. Read Past Outlooks
Slide ends in Miami
The Dolphins selected Gordon in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 179th overall.
ANALYSIS
A year ago, it would have been considered a big surprise for Gordon to last this long in the draft. He was coming off a monstrous sophomore season at Oklahoma State with 285 carries for 1,732 yards and 21 rushing touchdowns. His junior year did not go as planned, however. Gordon's YPC dropped from 6.08 to 4.63, and he was held to 880 rushing yards on 190 attempts. The combine didn't help his stock much, as he tested below average in the 40 (4.61) and in the vertical (34.5). His fit in Miami is good, though. The Dolphins have two smaller, speedier backs and needed to add some thump. Gordon can provide that at 6-foot-1 and 226 pounds. The upside case for Gordon would be taking over a short-yardage and goal-line role in Miami.

Cut out for short-yardage work
Miami targeted Gordon in the 2025 NFL Draft due to his bruising running style, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
The Dolphins are reliant on speed as a team, and the same is true of the team's backfield, which is led by De'Von Achane and Jaylen Wright. Gordon's a different type of player, as he's a 6-foot-1, 226-pound bruiser who powered in 34 rushing touchdowns over the past two years at Oklahoma State. Given the makeup of Miami's roster, the rookie sixth-round pick could immediately carve out a role as a short-yardage and goal-line specialist.
