2025 Fantasy Outlook
Carter began his collegiate career as an off-ball linebacker at Penn State and was regarded as one of the top players at his position as a prospect. However, he shifted to edge in his final year with the Nittany Lions and catapulted himself into the conversation as the top overall pick after logging 24 tackles for loss and 12.0 sacks across 16 games in 2024. Carter ultimately went third overall to the Giants and joins a very talented group of defensive linemen on the roster. He could open up his career in a rotation with Kayvon Thibodeaux, but there's no doubt he'll find his way onto the field and should be plenty impactful. In the context of dynasty leagues, Carter could quickly emerge to the heights of elite young options at the position such as Aidan Hutchinson and Travon Walker. Read Past Outlooks
Remains sidelined Thursday
Carter (illness) won't practice Thursday, Evan Barnes of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
The 21-year-old has now opened the Giants' week of practice with consecutive DNPs due to an illness. Carter likely needs to practice in some capacity Friday in order to suit up for the Week 18 matchup against the Cowboys. If he's sidelined Sunday, expect Chauncey Golston to have an expanded role in the Giants' linebacker corps.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Chance to set rookie record
Carter has been credited with 52 pressures this season, which is second most by a rookie since ESPN began tracking the stat in 2017, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nick Bosa holds the rookie record with 60 in 2019, but Carter has recorded nine pressures in each of the last two games, giving him a real shot at eclipsing Bosa's mark. The third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Carter has only 4.0 sacks through 16 games, but his disruptive presence off the edge has helped Brian Burns pile up a career-high 16.5 sacks this season. The pair could be among the league's best pass-rushing duos in 2026.
