Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Kamara remained a solid starting running back in 2024, and given his salary (two-year, $24.5 million extension in October), it would appear the Saints plan on another large workload in 2025. Even if the Saints offense remains below average, Kamara's skill and likely volume should still make him a fantasy asset. That was the case each of the last two years, a span in which Kamara averaged 15.1 carries and 5.3 receptions (6.5 targets) per game, with three-year highs in 2024 in yards from scrimmage (1,493) and touchdowns (eight). New Saints coach Kellen Moore consistently highlighted RBs as a coordinator for the Cowboys (Ezekiel Elliott/Tony Pollard), Chargers (Austin Ekeler) and Eagles (Saquon Barkley), so Moore's arrival should prove beneficial for Kamara. As much as the state of the surrounding Saints offense is a fair concern, the bigger threat to Kamara's fantasy production might be injury risk. Kamara played through a broken hand and cracked ribs beginning in Week 3 of 2024, before missing the final three games with a groin injury. He's never played fewer than 13 games in a season, but he hasn't played more than 15 since his 2017 rookie campaign. His age (30 in July) adds another dash of concern to the durability projection going forward, but Kamara nonetheless remains an annual threat to lead all RBs in receptions. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Held in check in Week 5
Kamara carried the ball eight times for 27 yards and caught four of six targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 26-14 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The 55 scrimmage yards were a season low for Kamara, and it's the third time in five games to begin the season that he's failed to reach 60. The veteran back is struggling to make an impact, as defenses haven't had much reason to fear the Saints' passing attack, but they could begin to loosen up for Kamara after QB Spencer Rattler hit Rashid Shaheed for an 87-yard TD in Sunday's win. Kamara will try to rebound in Week 6 against the Patriots.

The Saints offense didn't thrive in Derek Carr's first year as starting quarterback, but Kamara's fantasy investors had no qualms with the arrangement thanks to 75 receptions in 13 games. For the third year in a row, Kamara's efficiency as a ballcarrier remained far below the standard set in the first four seasons of his career, when he averaged at least 4.6 YPC. He's produced 4.0 YPC or less three years in a row now, and the touchdowns have dried up too (11 rushing TDs in the last three years, 43 in the first four). Efficiency figures to remain a challenge given Carr's limitations and the Saints' shaky offensive tackles, but Kamara should still have the sort of usage that pays off in fantasy football as long as he can hold off 2023 third-round pick Kendre Miller. Neither Miller nor Jamaal Williams put much of a dent in Kamara's workload last year, but it is possible the Saints take a little more off their lead back's plate in his age-29 season.

ANALYSIS
Kamara gets back on the list in 2025 after being relegated to honorable mention status the previous year. He recorded 1,053 scrimmage yards in 2024, accounting for more than a quarter of the total offense for a Saints team that didn't give Kamara much help from the offensive line or supporting cast. Kamara has topped 600 rushing yards and 400 receiving yards in all eight of his NFL regular seasons, tying him with Marshall Faulk for the most such seasons in an NFL career.
