2025 Fantasy Outlook
Taylor found an ideal landing spot in the second round of the 2025 Draft, going to the Jets with the 42nd overall pick after a college career in which he averaged 436 yards and two touchdowns per season at LSU. He’s one of the youngest incoming rookies, celebrating his 21st birthday two weeks after the draft, but he may nonetheless prove a quick study in the NFL, seeing as he was a three-year starter in the SEC and is the son of Hall of Famer Jason Taylor. (Mason) Taylor skipped drills at the combine before boosting his draft stock at LSU's pro day, where he ran a 4.65 40 and put up a lineman-like total of 28 bench-press reps at 6-foot-5, 246 pounds. While impressive raw strength doesn't always translate to good blocking, Taylor has a nice opportunity to be the Week 1 starter for a team whose veteran tight ends have failed to make a mark in the NFL as either blockers or pass catchers (combined career totals of 644 yards and one TD). The Jets figure to deploy a run-first offense with dual-threat quarterback Justin Fields, but there's nonetheless an opportunity for the rookie to see a good number of targets, as the team lacks weapons beyond WR Garrett Wilson and RB Breece Hall. Read Past Outlooks
Role continues to grow
Taylor caught nine of 12 targets for 67 yards in Sunday's 37-22 loss to the Cowboys. He also caught a two-point conversion.
ANALYSIS
The rookie tight end led the Jets in catches and targets and was only four yards back of Garrett Wilson for the team lead in that category as well. Taylor is blossoming now that he's put an early-season ankle issue behind him, and over the last three games he's delivered an 18-150-0 line on 25 targets as he begins to establish himself as the team's No. 2 pass-catching option behind Wilson. Taylor will look for his first career touchdown in Week 6 against the Broncos.

Making waves at camp
Taylor has been impressive through early training camp practices and appears set to be the primary receiving option at tight end, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie out of LSU has been standing out with the same athleticism and hands that led to him being selected in the second round for the tight-end-needy Jets. Taylor, who posted a 55-546-2 receiving line in his final college season in 2024, recorded a 26-yard touchdown grab from Justin Fields in Friday's session, and Cimini notes Taylor's emergence could relegate position mate Jeremy Ruckert to a blocking role.
