The rookie will likely enter the season as the Saints' No. 2 left tackle behind veteran James Hurst, who appears to be the favorite to secure the starting job after the depature or Terron Armstead to the Dolphins. Penning's size and athleticism are tools that should make him a starting-caliber tackle eventually, but he'll need to make improvements in his game before he is truly ready.
