2025 Fantasy Outlook
Widely disparaged as a "reach" after Carolina took him 32nd overall last spring, Legette failed to dissuade his detractors in 2024, getting outplayed by a 34-year-old Adam Thielen and undrafted rookie Jalen Coker. Few wideouts match Legette's combination of bulk (6-1, 221) and straight-line speed (4.39 40), but he comes with the usual fluidity limitations that accompany WR prospects his size, in addition to concerns about his lack of production at South Carolina prior to his final collegiate season (he had 1,255 yards as a 22-year-old, fifth-year senior, after 423 total receiving yards his first four seasons). The draft capital and physical tools mean Legette will get a chance to develop and handle a starting job again, but rookie first-round pick Tetairoa McMillan figures to draw far more targets. Disappoints in sophomore season
Legette caught one of four targets for eight yards during Saturday's 34-31 wild-card loss to the Rams. Additionally, he recorded 44 kick return yards.
ANALYSIS
The 2024 first-round pick from South Carolina was one of six Panthers to catch a pass from Bryce Young during Saturday's loss, finishing with the fifth-most receiving yards on the team. Across 15 regular-season appearances, Legette caught 35 of 64 targets for 363 yards and three touchdowns, finishing the year as Carolina's third-leading receiver. Heading into his third season in the NFL, Legette likely will remain a depth option in the Panthers' receiving corps following the emergence of Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker during the 2025 campaign.

Legette could reasonably be described as a rich man's Jonathan Mingo, so consider it a fun twist of fate that the two bulky wideouts will now be teammates after Carolina took Legette with the 32nd overall pick. Much like his new teammate, Legette didn't do much until the very end of his college career, disappointing as a four-star recruit at South Carolina prior to exploding for 71-1,255-7 his senior year. A Mingo comp made even more sense after the 2024 Combine, where Legette put up a 4.39 40-yard dash, 40-inch vertical and 126-inch broad jump at 6-1, 221. The comparison ends once we talk about their breakout senior seasons, as Legette's was truly monstrous and came at a clip of 12.9 YPT, whereas Mingo had 9.4 YPT and didn't even lead his Ole Miss team in catches or receiving yards. Mingo then had a brutal rookie season, setting up Legette with an excellent chance to step right into a top-three role alongside veteran WRs Diontae Johnson and Adam Thielen. Neither of those guys poses much of a threat downfield, and the Panthers probably need to add some vertical component in order for new coach Dave Canales to salvage QB Bryce Young. It's a nice opportunity for one of the more divisive WR prospects in the 2024 class, though perhaps not enough to convince detractors who are wary of Legette's late breakout and advanced age (23) as well as the typical fluidity concerns associated with receivers his size.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Will be focal point of passing game
Legette will become one of the featured wide receivers in Carolina's passing game, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
The Panthers traded away Diontae Johnson on Tuesday, opening up the No. 1 wide receiver job. Johnson's 26.3 percent target rate was nearly double that of Legette, though the rookie pass catcher will now get the chance to prove that he should be viewed as a long-term contributor to the offense. While inconsistent, Legette has shown moments of promise this season, highlighted by three touchdown receptions in his last five games. Jalen Coker also figures to see an increased role.
