British Masters

Location: Walton on the Hill, Surrey, England
Course: Walton Heath Golf Club

Tournament Preview

This is the first time this tournament will be played at Walton Heath. The heathland course has wide fairways, but has very penal, thick heather if you miss. There is water on only one hole and wind is the primary defense on the exposed course. Without any course history this week, recent form will be weighted heavily along with good wind play.

2017 - Paul Dunne
2016 - Alex Noren
2015 - Matthew Fitzpatrick
2008 - Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano
2007 - Lee Westwood

DRAFTINGS PICKS

Justin Rose - $11,600 (7/1)

Rose is the clear favorite to win this week. He is the tournament host, and that could mean distractions, but I believe his experience will prevail. He knows how to manage his time by this point in his career and should be focused this week. Rose also has an opportunity to get his world number one ranking back, which must be big motivation in itself. Look for him to have a good week on this course of his choosing.

Matthew Fitzpatrick - $9,600 (25/1)

This appears to be a prime spot for Fitzpatrick. Accuracy is the strength of his game, he is ranked 46th in driving accuracy and is 24th in SG: approach. His form has been great recently with a

Matthew Fitzpatrick - $9,600 (25/1)

This appears to be a prime spot for Fitzpatrick. Accuracy is the strength of his game, he is ranked 46th in driving accuracy and is 24th in SG: approach. His form has been great recently with a T7 at Made in Denmark and a win at Omega European Masters. I am not concerned with the missed cut last week. Fitzpatrick is a past winner at this event and has all the tools to succeed this week.

Jordan Smith - $7,500 (80/1)

Smith has made his last five cuts, his highest finish coming at KLM Open with a solo 10th. At only $7,500 this week, he is a must play for me. He is accurate off the tee, ranking 51st in driving accuracy and is 22nd on tour in greens in regulation. The Englishman will handle the wind and should have another strong showing.

Jason Scrivener - $7,000 (125/1)

I have been on Scrivener for awhile and see no reason to jump ship as long as the good form continues. His last three finishes have been T15, T12 and T24 last week at Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The Aussie is a good wind player and should contend this week at Walton Heath GC. Scrivener has been excellent with his irons, ranking 16th on tour in SG: approach and 55th in greens in regulation.
