DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

There are seven games in the NHL on Tuesday, and the player pool is filled with high-end centers. However, the collections of wingers isn't quite as top heavy. One avenue to differentiate your lineups involves looking past Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid and John Tavares, and spending up at other positions. Here are a number of players across multiple price points to consider at DraftKings on Tuesday.

GOALIE

Devan Dubnyk, MIN vs. ANA ($8,100): The Ducks enter on the final leg of a six-game road trip and have lost four of their first five contests, while averaging just 2.6 goals per outing. Dubnyk has won eight of his past nine starts with a .917 save percentage and 2.51 GAA. While those numbers are down compared to his season-long marks, he continues to pad the wins column even with league-average ratios. At home, Minnesota also allows just 2.08 goals per game and the fewest high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the league.

CENTER

Auston Matthews, TOR vs. NYI ($7,600): Cool of late with just three goals and six points over his past 12 games, Matthews lands in a ripe bounceback spot Tuesday. The Islanders have allowed the fourth most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (12.54) on the road this season, with a 7-11-4 record and 3.05 GAA away from Barclays Center. Even with his recent slide, Matthews still has a rock-solid 2.75 points and 11.58 shots per 60 minutes.

Jack Eichel, BUF at OTT ($7,000): With a 3.4 shooting percentage on 29 shots over his past eight games, Eichel is eyeing positive regression in the goals column. He's still notched a goal and six points during that stretch with an average of 19:35 of ice time (2:05 with the man advantage). Eichel is also projected to continue centering Sam Reinhart and Evander Kane, and the trio has combined for a solid 3.69 goals per 60 minutes this season.

WING

Nikolaj Ehlers, WPG vs. DAL ($5,800): The Stars allow the second most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (12.27) and goals per game (3.18), so this is a cushy matchup for Ehlers to break out. The sophomore owns a 12th-ranked 2.69 points per 60 minutes among all skaters with at least 1,000 minutes this season, but is currently mired in his longest point drought of the campaign (four games).

Jordan Eberle, EDM vs. ARI ($5,100): The veteran winger's goals per 60 minutes at five-on-five climbs 1.3 tallies to 2.97 while sharing the ice with Connor McDavid. Eberle is currently pointless through his past seven games, so his switch to McDavid's flank at Monday's practice is encouraging. This is a perfect matchup for him to rebound, with Arizona allowing the most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (13.16).

Pavel Zacha, NJD vs. COL ($3,700): Not only does Colorado own a league-low team save percentage (.894), the Avalanche allow the third most goals (3.38) and fifth most scoring chances (30.54) per 60 minutes on the road. Zacha is a low-priced flier in solid form (four goals and seven points through his past 10 games), and he should consistently have soft in-game matchups Tuesday. The 19-year-old rookie owns significant offensive upside after posting 34 goals and 77 points through 58 games in the OHL last season.

DEFENSE

Kris Letang, PIT vs. VAN ($6,300): Expected to return to quarterbacking the No. 1 power-play unit, Letang enters Tuesday's game with a goal, five points, 20 shots and seven blocked shots over his previous five games. This should also prove to be a soft matchup against Vancouver. The Canucks are playing their fifth road game in eight nights, and are just 8-17-3 while allowing 3.04 goals per game away from Rogers Arena. This salary also presents value, considering Letang owns a second-ranked 2.04 points per 60 minutes among all defensemen with 2,000 minutes over the past two seasons.

Andy Greene, NJD vs. COL ($3,300): As noted, the Avalanche present a prime matchup, and Greene is projected to quarterback the Devils' No. 1 power-play unit. He offers limited offensive upside but has averaged 25:36 of ice time per game since returning from an upper-body injury and has blocked 10 shots through those four games. At this salary, New Jersey's captain opens up plenty of cap relief and can hit value easily. Greene should also be scarcely owned, so marking the points column would provide a huge reward.
