FanDuel NHL: Thursday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Thursday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

There is no World Series game Thursday, but don't worry. The NHL has 10 games for you to fill the void. That also means you have an abundance of options for your daily fantasy lineup. Of those options, here are some particularly intriguing players that I would recommend…

GOALIE

Devan Dubnyk, MIN vs. LOS ($8,600): The Wild were an absolutely stellar home team last season, as they had a 2.17 GAA in their own arena. Meanwhile, the Kings have been quite punchless on offense this year. They've only managed 1.89 goals per game, and only put 27.9 shots on net per contest. That bodes well for Dubnyk, who has a .944 save percentage to star this season.

CENTER

David Krejci, BOS vs. PHI ($5,400): Krejci dealt with injuries last year, but he still managed 17 goals and 44 points in 64 games. That includes 13 power-play points, and he's regular managed double-digit points with the extra man in his career. On the other hand, the Flyers had the 29th-ranked penalty kill last season, so this matchup looks good for the Czech center.

Derek Stepan, ARI vs. VAN ($5,400): Stepan's first season with the Coyotes didn't go great, but he had a 6.7 shooting percentage, lowest in his career. He hasn't scored a goal yet this year, but he's put 24 shots on net through eight games. His puck luck can't stay this bad forever, and he does have four assists. The Canucks had a 3.16 GAA last year, and they are also on the road for the second night of a back-to-back Thursday.

WING

Alex DeBrincat, CHI vs. NYR ($6,400): DeBrincat notched 28 goals as a rookie, though he only had 24 assists. He's been a little more of a playmaker to start this year, as he has five assists to go with his seven goals through nine games. Last year, the Rangers allowed 35.3 shots on net per game, and that seems like it's still an issue for them. They've given up 34.1 shots on goal per contest to start this season.

Patric Hornqvist, PIT at CGY ($5,900): Hornqvist got off to a bit of a slow start to the year, but he just picked up three points in his last game. Besides, he's got a track record of success, as he's been a lock for over 20 goals and 200 shots through his entire career. Mike Smith has struggled to start the season, which has led to David Rittich getting the last two starts for the Flames. However, while Rittich has been good this year, he had a 2.92 GAA and .904 save percentage last season.

Tomas Tatar, MON at BUF ($4,900): Tatar is off to a hot start, notching eight points in eight games. Though he will likely cool down, he's playing on Montreal's top line, and he's on their top power-play unit as well. That gives him more opportunity than he had in Detroit, or in Vegas at the end of last year. Carter Hutton was a pleasant surprise last year, but he's got a 3.09 GAA and .909 save percentage to start this season.

DEFENSE

Zach Werenski, CLM at STL ($5,500): Werenski had 47 points as a rookie, but though he dropped to 37 points last year he increased his goal total from 11 to 16. He also put 207 shots on net in 77 games, impressive for a defenseman. The 21-year-old has been hot, he has five points in his last five games, and Jake Allen has a 3.64 GAA and .882 save percentage through seven contests.

Rasmus Ristolainen, BUF vs. MON ($5,000): Ristolainen has been very active on the power play in his career. He's averaged more than three minutes per game with the extra man in each of his last three seasons, and managed at least 21 points on the power play. Even with Rasmus Dahlin around, he's averaged 4:19 per game on the power play this year, tallying three power-play points in nine games. As for the Canadiens, they had the 30th-ranked penalty kill last season, which says it all.
