Tomorrow, March Madness gets back in gear, but Wednesday is all about hockey! There are four NHL games on the slate as this month winds down. Here are my recommendations for your daily fantasy lineup.
GOALIE
David Rittich, CGY vs. DAL ($8,400): The goaltending situation in Calgary has been iffy recently, but Rittich has been better than Mike Smith. He has a 2.52 GAA and .911 save percentage in his last eight starts. At least this matchup is good for the Czech netminder. The Stars have only averaged 2.30 goals per game on the road.
CENTER
David Krejci, BOS vs. NYR ($5,800): After having a four-game goal streak, Krejci doesn't have a goal in his last seven games. Who cares, though, when he has five assists in that time? He may be able to add to both of those stat categories in this matchup. The Rangers have a 3.81 GAA in away games.
Nazem Kadri, TOR at PHI ($5,000): Since returning from a concussion, Kadri has five points and 20 shots on net in his last nine games. He's also averaged 2:32 per game with the extra man in that time. The Flyers have the 21st-ranked penalty kill, and they have a 3.16 GAA since the All-Star break as well.
WING
Jakub Voracek, PHI vs. TOR ($7,500): Voracek has 20 goals for the third season in a row, which some time left to add to that total. He's also been hot recently, as he has 14 points in his last 11 contests. Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs have struggled defensively down the stretch. They have a 3.26 GAA since the All-Star break, bottom 10 in the NHL.
Reilly Smith, VGK at COL ($6,400): Speaking of hot scorers, Smith has 19 points in his last 15 games. He's also notched 14 points with the extra man in 69 contests. That's what particularly interests me about this matchup, as the Avalanche have the 28th-ranked penalty kill.
Kasperi Kapanen, TOR at PHI ($4,500): Kapanen has been quite active since returning from injury, as he has 16 shots on net in his last four games. That gives him 163 shots in 72 contests this season. Philly's defense has been quite porous since the All-Star break. In that time, they've given up 36.4 shots on net per game.
DEFENSE
Tyson Barrie, COL vs. VGK ($6,300): The Avalanche have dealt with injuries to some key players recently, but Barrie is healthy and playing well. He has nine points in his last 10 games, giving him 53 on the year. While the Golden Knights are strong at home, on the road they have a 3.05 GAA and .897 save percentage.
Charlie McAvoy, BOS vs. NYR ($4,700): With Torey Krug out, McAvoy has needed to take on a bigger load, especially on the power play. His offensive numbers haven't been great (25 points in 49 games), but he has six points in his last 10 games. Plus, just as importantly, the Rangers have a 3.81 road GAA.
