NHL Odds Insights and Best Bets for Tonight's Matchups

Pittsburgh Penguins at Philadelphia Flyers

The Penguins (12-7-5) and Flyers (14-7-3) meet at Xfinity Mobile Center in Philadelphia on Monday night, and it can be viewed or streamed at 7 p.m. ET on NHL Network.

These teams are meeting for the second time this season. On Oct. 28, the Flyers won 3-2 in a shootout as moderate favorites (-170) as the Under (6) cashed. Justin Brazeau and Bobby Brink exchanged goals in the first period, with Brink's goal of the power-play variety. In the second period, Travis Konecny helped the Flyers go ahead, but Sidney Crosby pulled the Pens back even midway through the third with helpers to Filip Hallander and Bryan Rust.

Both Arturs Silovs and Samuel Ersson allowed just two goals, with Silovs tasked with 32 saves, and Ersson going for 24.

At the end of overtime, these Keystone State rivals dropped the gloves, too, with four misconducts each assessed to both sides. If you're wondering how that works, a penalty to Evgeni Malkin expired in what was a 4-on-3; that's why there were eight guys on the ice, a rarity in OT these days.

Tristan Jarry (7-2-0, 2.74 GAA, .906 save percentage, 1 SO) and Dan Vladar (10-4-1, 2.43 GAA, .912 save percentage) are confirmed to start, giving us a completely different matchup in the crease than we saw five weeks ago.

The last time we saw the Pens, the Toronto Maple Leafs took out a season's worth of frustrations in a 7-2 win in Pittsburgh as the Over (6.5) cashed. Still, Pittsburgh is a respectable 2-1-1 in the past four games, with the Over cashing in the past two games after a seven-game Under run.

The Fly Guys return to home ice after winning the past three games on the road, including a 5-3 victory in New Jersey on Saturday. The Over has cashed in three in a row.

Based on Philly's play lately, winning five of the past six games, we'll back the home side, and we'll go Over based on Philly's recent play and the series trends, with the Over going 4-2 in the past six installments.

  • Flyers ML (-135 at Bet365, Caesars and DraftKings Sportsbooks)
  • Over 5.5 (-124 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

Anaheim Ducks at St. Louis Blues

The Ducks (15-9-1) and Blues (9-10-7) drop the puck at Enterprise Center at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

The Blues have dominated this series in recent seasons, sweeping in the 2024-25 campaign, while outscoring the Ducks 17-7. St. Louis has won 10 in a row in the series, with Anaheim last winning 3-2 in overtime on Dec. 12, 2021, at Enterprise Center as moderate underdogs (+140) as the Under (5.5) cashed.

Anaheim is 6-6-1 on the road this season, with St. Louis 5-5-4 at home, so there's not much to glean there. The Ducks are just 4-6-0 in the past 10 games since Nov. 11, with the Over cashing in the past four outings.

St. Louis picked up a 1-0 win against the Utah Mammoth last time out on Saturday as short 'dogs (+110) at home as the Under (5.5) cashed. The Blues have made things interesting lately, playing seven straight one-goal games, going 3-1-3 in the span, and 10 of the past 11 games have been decided by a single goal. The Under is 7-1 in the past eight outings, too.

As moderate favorites, based on their red-hot play in the series, back the Blues until the Ducks start to tick off regular wins in the series again. And, let's go Under, a trend that has dominated for St. Louis lately. Playing Under 6.5 is an especially strong play, and you should go aggressively on that.
