Our cup runneth over Tuesday with NHL action. There are 12 games on the docket, so you have a bounty of options for your daily fantasy hockey lineup. To make your decisions easier, here are some recommendations for players to target, and to avoid.
GOALIE
Alex Stalock, MIN vs. ANA ($26): Stalock's last couple starts have been rough, but they were on the road against the Lightning and Hurricanes. Being at home against a Ducks team that has only averaged 28.9 shots on net per game should allow him to bounce back. Plus, Stalock has been stellar in Minnesota's arena, as he has a 1.56 GAA and .946 save percentage at home.
GOALIE TO AVOID
Frederik Andersen, TOR at VAN ($31): It's the same as it ever was for Andersen. Over the previous four seasons he's had a save percentage between .917 and .919, and this year he has a save percentage of .918. That being said, the Canucks should provide a tough challenge for the Danish netminder. Vancouver has averaged 3.33 goals and 32.0 shots on net per game.
CENTER
Jared McCann, PIT vs. MON ($15): With Sidney Crosby and Nick Bjugstad out, McCann is now the second-line center for the Penguins. He also centers Pittsburgh's seldom-used second power-play unit as well. In this matchup he's facing a Canadiens team with a 3.37 GAA, bottom five in the NHL, and they also have a bottom-five penalty kill.
CENTER TO AVOID
Dylan Larkin, DET at WPG ($20): Larkin is doing his best to power a paltry Red Wings offense. He's put 101 shots on net through 31 games, but he doesn't get much support around him. That makes it harder for Larkin to tally points, especially against a goalie like Connor Hellebuyck who has a 2.19 GAA and .934 save percentage.
WING
Max Pacioretty, VGK vs. CHI ($25): Pacioretty has been one of the most prolific shooters in the NHL this year. He's put 128 pucks on net through 32 games, and if not for 7.8 percent shooting he'd have more than 10 goals. Meanwhile, the Blackhawks have allowed a whopping 36.1 shots on net per contest, highest in the NHL. Pacioretty should be a busy guy Tuesday.
Nikolaj Ehlers, WPG vs. DET ($19): Ehlers has started 64.9 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, highest on the Jets. He's also been quite hot recently, as he has nine points in his last 11 contests. The Wings have by far the worst defense in the NHL. They have a 3.97 GAA, and nobody else has a GAA higher than 3.62.
WINGS TO AVOID
Johnny Gaudreau, CGY at ARI ($25): Gaudreau has struggled this year, at least when it comes to scoring goals. He's only put six pucks in the net through 32 games. Being on the road for the second game of a back-to-back is bad enough, but the Coyotes also have a 2.28 GAA, lowest in the league.
Brendan Gallagher, MON at PIT ($22): Gallagher regularly puts a lot of shots on net, but the Penguins have only allowed 29.4 shots on goal per game. This will also be a particularly challenging outing if Tristan Jarry is in net for the Penguins, as he has a 1.82 GAA and .943 save percentage. Don't expect any success for Gallagher on the power play either, as he only has one point with the extra man.
DEFENSE
Miro Heiskanen, DAL vs. NJD ($21): John Klingberg has had some struggles, but Heiskanen has picked up the slack in his sophomore campaign. The 20-year-old has seven goals on 88 shots through 31 games, not to mention 14 assists. Meanwhile, the Devils have a 3.62 GAA, and only the Red Wings are worse.
Josh Morrissey, WPG vs. DET ($17): You're going to want to take as much advantage of the Jets being at home against the Red Wings as you can. After all, Detroit has the league's highest GAA by a wide margin, but also the league's worst penalty kill. Morrissey has averaged 2:45 per game with the extra man, and he has seven power-play points in 28 contests.
DEFENSEMEN TO AVOID
Oscar Klefbom, EDM vs. CAR ($22): Klefbom got off to a hot start to the season, but he only has two points in his last nine games. The Swede tends to take a lot of shots, but the Hurricanes have given up a league-low 28.7 shots on net per contest. Also, the Hurricanes have the third-ranked penalty kill, so that's another mark against Klefbom.
Mark Giordano, CGY at ARI ($21): Giordano has suffered a precipitous drop from his Norris-winning form of a year ago. In fact, he's only notched three points, all assists, in his last 12 games. Now he's stuck on the road for the second game of a back-to-back against a Coyotes team with a 2.28 GAA.
