Closer Watch

Cleveland – Cody Allen cannot be a popular player in Cleveland's clubhouse Tuesday after an epic meltdown Monday night. Allen took the loss and the blown save – a three-run lead – by allowing four runs on six hits and one walk while retiring just one hitter. Allen now has two very bad outings to his name, but he converted three other saves without incident. In all, Allen has allowed 15 base runners in just four innings.

Oakland – The A's did not produce a save opportunity until Monday when Tyler Clippard converted without incident. He will hold this role at least until Sean Doolittle returns from injury.

Addison Russell, SS, CHC – The future is now in Chicago, as the Cubs have called up Kris Bryant and Russell in the last week, with Russell arriving Tuesday. Russell started at second base and hit ninth in the order Tuesday night. In 11 Triple-A games this season, Russell was hitting .318/.326/.477 with four doubles and a home run. He missed a large chunk of 2013 with a torn hamstring, but flashed power by tallying 13 home runs and 14 doubles in 63 Double-A games. The 21-year-old has the ability to be a contributor immediately.

Other Recent Recommendations:Carlos Rodon, Anthony DeSclafani, Everth Cabrera, Devon Travis, Mike Moustakas, Kendrys Morales
