Yahoo DFS Baseball: Friday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

STARTING PITCHER

Mike Fiers, OAK vs. SEA ($44): It may seem odd to spend this much money on a pitcher like Fiers, but his performance since joining the Athletics is a cause for celebration. In four starts he has a 1.50 ERA, and Oakland's ballpark tends me to be pitcher friendly. The Mariners' offense has taken a dip since the All-Star break. In that time they rank 27th in runs scored.

Nathan Eovaldi, BOS at CWS ($35): Eovaldi is another pitcher who has picked up his performance since being dealt. In six starts with the Red Sox the hurler has a 3.08 FIP. Plus, being traded from Tampa to Boston means he's getting much better run support. The other Sox, the ones from Chicago, rank in the bottom 10 in runs scored.

CATCHER

J.T. Realmuto, MIA vs. TOR ($14): Realmuto has averaged 7.2 fantasy points per game. That makes the fact he will only cost you $14 a bit baffling. This is especially true since he has a .881 OPS against righties. Toronto starter Aaron Sanchez is right handed, and he also has a 4.95 ERA.

FIRST BASE

Ryan O'Hearn, KC vs. BAL ($18): The Royals' atrocious season has at least given O'Hearn a chance to see some playing time. He has six home runs in 20 games, and though he only has a .231 batting average, his issues with lefties is a big reason for that. Against righties he has a 1.235 OPS. Andrew Cashner is a righty, and he has a 4.90 FIP as well.

SECOND BASE

Jason Kipnis, CLE vs. TAM ($11): Kipnis has some pretty extreme home/road splits, but fortunately at home is where he's performed well. He's slashed .244/.349/.449 in Cleveland, while hitting 10 of his 13 homers in his home park. Since being traded to Tampa and getting a chance to start, Tyler Glasnow has a 3.80 ERA. On top of that, in his career he's allowed 1.25 homers per nine innings.

THIRD BASE

Adrian Beltre, TEX vs. MIN ($13): Beltre's power is a bit down this year, but he's still put up decent power numbers at home. Texas' ballpark tends to be friendly to hitters, especially when the weather is warmer, so perhaps Beltre can show some of his old form. It was just last year he had 17 homers in 94 games. Another point in Beltre's favor is that Stephen Gonsalves will be on the mound for the Twins. In two MLB starts, he has a 11.37 ERA.

SHORTSTOP

Gleyber Torres, NYY vs. DET ($15): Torres has had a rather impressive rookie campaign. The 21-year-old has a .273/.345/.495 slash line with 20 homers in 95 games. It seemed like Jordan Zimmerman had turned it around briefly, but that time was fleeting. Over his last eight starts the veteran has a 5.48 ERA.

OUTFIELD

Shin-Soo Choo, TEX vs. MIN ($20): Choo has enjoyed a resurgent season, as his .861 OPS is his highest since he made the move to the Rangers in 2014. The Korean outfielder also has 21 homers, and with just two more he'd set a new personal best. He could definitely get a step closer to that with a game at home against Stephen Gonsalves, a pitcher who had a 3.91 FIP in Triple-A before getting called up to the majors.

Lorenzo Cain, MIL at WAS ($18): Cain has been getting on base with gusto this season, as he's posted a .402 OBP. Once he's on base, he can do real damage, as he has 24 stolen bases in 116 games. Tanner Roark has a 3.95 ERA, but he's really struggled at home. In his own ballpark, the pitcher has a 5.00 ERA.

Randal Grichuk, TOR at MIA ($17): Grichuck's been red hot recently, as he's slashed .410/.465/.769 over his last 14 games. Overall, he has 19 home runs in 99 contests as well. Now he gets to tee off on Dan Straily, who has a 5.38 FIP, and who has also allowed 1.56 homers per nine innings.
