Best NBA Bets Today
Bennedict Mathurin over 20.5 points (-105) at Philadelphia 76ers
BetMGM, 2:15 PM CT
Alex Barutha: While Joel Embiid being back should improve Philly's halfcourt defense, the transition numbers are a different story. The 76ers allow +6.5 more transition points per 100 possessions with Embiid on the floor compared to off, as his mobility is a significant issue. Transition opportunities are one of the places Mathurin thrives, and he's also a good enough ballhandler and shooter to take advantage of free shots in the midrange when Embiid is in drop coverage. Mathurin's performances can be up and down, but he's still averaging 21.5 points this season.
Jaylon Tyson over 13.5 points (-125) at Washington Wizards
Hard Rock, 2:30 PM CT
Alex Barutha: Over the past 10 games, the Wizards are allowing the second-most points per 48 minutes (126.6), and they're allowing the most points through transition (30.4) on the whole season. That sets up well for Tyson, who is on pace to start his sixth straight game. In his last 13 games as a starter, he's averaging 16.2 points on 58 FG%. He's an excellent transition player, scoring about 25% of his points that way. Tyson can also knock down spot-up threes, and the Wizards are allowing the second-highest FG% (42.9%) on spot-ups.
Zaccharie Risacher under 10.5 points (+100) at Detroit Pistons
BetRivers, 3:50pm EST
Ken Crites: Simply put, Risacher stinks. And he's been worse on the road, averaging only 9.5 points a game over 14 away games. Vegas has this game, at Detroit, at a cozy 231.5 total with the Pistons as -7.5 point favorites, meaning an implied low total score of 112 for the Hawks. Risacher will face a lot of Ausar Thompson's aggressive defense, which will be a problem for the second-year Frenchman. The K-Train is 7-3 on the season and 57-46 overall, so feel free to fade!
