FanDuel NBA: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel NBA: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

The NBA has seven overall games on Sunday, but only five in their "main" schedule that starts at 6:00 PM ET. One of the fun matchups of the day is the Wizards against the Kings, which pits John Wall against perhaps the next generation of himself in De'Aaron Fox. Another intriguing game features Dwight Howard, who's been rebounding like he was during his peak years, facing the squad that he played for during that time. As always, let's explore these and every other matchup of the day to find some value.

Guard (premium)

John Wall, WAS at SAC ($10,100): Wall and Stephen Curry ($9,600) are playing at the highest level among guards on Sunday, but Wall has a better matchup against a weak Kings defense. Plus, he's playing on the road (which lessens the likelihood of a blowout limiting his minutes) and may get a kick out of facing another young, lightening quick scoring point guard in De'Aaron Fox.

Guard (moderate)

D'Angelo Russell, BKN vs DEN ($7,400): Russell tweaked his knee last week and wasn't expected to play on Friday, but did and managed 15 points in 17 minutes against the Knicks. With another couple of days of rest, Russell should be closer to his normal level in a good matchup against a perimeter-defense challenged Nuggets squad. Special note: if news leaks that Russell had a setback, then Spencer Dinwiddie ($4,600) would become an extra value play.

Guard (affordable)

De'Aaron Fox, SAC vs WAS ($5,500): Fox has been another productive member of a thus-far outstanding rookie class, leading the Kings in scoring despite coming off the bench. He has scored at least 14 points in every game this season but one, and in that one he produced double-digit assists and six boards. When he and John Wall guard each other, there's the reasonable chance that one of them breaks the sound barrier.

Forward (premium)

LeBron James, CLE vs NY ($11,300): James is on the second night of a back-to-back, which isn't ideal, but on the flip side the Cavaliers are in the midst of a mini losing streak that has the reporters asking them negative questions. While it's too early to worry about those things, James may decide to lower the hammer on a hapless Knicks squad on Sunday in order to get a bit of peace and quiet.

Forward (moderate)

Otto Porter, WAS at SAC ($7,600): Porter has been very quietly playing at an elite level all season, putting up numbers very comparable to more heralded teammates John Wall and Bradley Beal. Porter is coming off a 29-point, 10-rebound effort against the Warriors and has elite potential on Sunday despite his moderate price tag.

Forward (affordable)

Skal Labissiere, SAC vs WAS ($5,000): Labissiere has been playing solid ball, averaging 13.7 points with 3.7 boards and 2.3 combined blocks/steals in 23 minutes over his last three games, but gets a boost on Sunday with the news that Zach Randolph will be sitting out to rest.

Center (premium)

Dwight Howard, CHA vs ORL ($8,000): Howard has grabbed between 15 and 22 rebounds in all five games this season, and has also scored at least 15 points in three of his last four games with eight total blocks in that stretch. He's playing as well as he's played in a long time, just in time for a matchup against the team with whom he made his name and his fame.

Center (moderate)

Enes Kanter, NY at CLE ($5,700): Kanter has quietly been the most productive Knicks center this season, scoring in double figures in every game while averaging 10.5 boards and 1.5 combined blocks/steals. The Cavaliers keep experimenting with their lineups, in large part because their interior defense has struggled this season.

Center (affordable)

Kosta Koufos, SAC vs WAS ($4,200): Koufos has played very well in the last two games, averaging 7.5 points, 8.5 boards, 2.0 assists and 2.5 combined blocks/steals in less than 20 minutes per game. He has actually outplayed starter Willie Cauley-Stein ($5,900) in those games, but both get a bump on Sunday with the news that Zach Randolph is going to sit out to rest.
