Handicapping the NBA: Monday Picks

This article is part of our NBA Picks series.

Alex Barutha

Dillon Brooks OVER 21.5 points (-104) vs. UTA -- FanDuel (1:32 PM CT)

Admittedly, Brooks is shooting an unsustainable 53.1 percent from the field, and that's bound to decrease. However, his shot volume is still huge. In the first three games of the series, he's averaging 21.3 shots per game. I expect that to continue Monday, and any time you can get a player prop in scoring that close to a player's expected shot attempts, it's likely worth a bet.

Nick Whalen

76ers -9.0 (+107) at WAS -- DraftKings (10:37 AM CT)

The Sixers have overwhelmed the Wizards in Games 2 and 3 without even needing big minutes from their stars. Joel Embiid is yet to cross the 30-minute mark in three games, and he's coming off of a 36-points-in-28-minutes effort Saturday night. Washington hasn't shown much of a backbone since hanging around for three quarters in Game 1, and with Russell Westbrook hobbled, it's hard to imagine a path to the Wizards keeping this one competitive throughout.

Mike Conley OVER 17.5 points (-105) at Memphis Grizzlies -- DraftKings

Conley has been arguably the Jazz's best player thus far in the series, topping 20 points in all three games while adding 11.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game. He could be due for a slight regression shooting-wise, but Utah should keep its foot on the gas Monday, so I expect Conley to again carry a heavy workload as Donovan Mitchell builds trust in his ankle. Conley's 16.7 field-goal attempts per game in the series are his most in any three-game stretch this season.

Ken Crites

76ers to cover (-8.0) at WAS -- FanDuel (9:55 AM CT)

Stick a fork in Washington.  They are done. Frankly, they've already exceeded expectations. Look for Philly to go up early and Westbrook to decide it doesn't make any sense to keep pushing his bad ankle. I'm not sure, but I think Bradley Beal might bring his tackle box to the bench. He's gone fishin', baby.
