CFL Betting: CFL Bets and Parlays for Week 10
We're focusing on the two Saturday games again this week, with the Redblacks-Argonauts clash carrying the highest projected total of the remaining three games on the slate and the Blue Bombers-Stampeders battle featuring the return of each team's capable veteran quarterback from injury.
Read on for a look at which Week 10 CFL betting scenarios catch my eye on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Ottawa Redblacks at Toronto Argonauts (Saturday, August 9, 3:00 p.m. ET)
As alluded to in the introduction, this game between two inconsistent defenses unsurprisingly carries a robust total of 52.5 points as of Friday afternoon. These two teams have matching 2-6 records, and given they both have plenty of offensive talent, it's clear the defensive units have been big culprits in some of those losses.
Ottawa is allowing 26.8 points per game, as well as 361.1 net offensive yards per contest. The Redblacks have also yielded the third-most yards per play (6.85), and a lot of those chunk gains by opponents have come through the air. The Redblacks are surrendering 276.9 passing yards per game, and they're tied with Toronto and the Lions for most completions of 30+ yards allowed (17).
For their part, the Argos have surrendered the second-most points per game (30.8), the third-most touchdowns (20), the fourth-most yards per play (6.76) and the second-most rushing yards per game (117.4, at 5.1 yards per carry).
Partly because they've been so generous against the run, the Argos have faced a league-low 211 pass attempts and allowed the second-fewest passing yards per game (251.3), but they've also conceded the third-highest completion percentage (69.7) and the aforementioned co-league-high number of 30+ yard completions, a somewhat unusual combination of metrics that could portend some big plays for Dru Brown and his pass catchers.
The Argonauts' Nick Arbuckle also has a bright outlook, and in a Week 4, 29-16 win in Ottawa, he compiled 269 passing yards on just 18 completions. It was Dustin Crum and not Brown under center for the Redblacks in that contest, so Arbuckle, who's averaging 291.8 passing yards per game this season and has eclipsed 300 passing yards in three of the past four games, is a solid bet to get to at least 275 in what projects as a close matchup. Pairing that prop with a slightly lower alternate total gives us a solid game-game parlay to ride with.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Calgary Stampeders (Saturday, August 9, 7:00 p.m. ET)
As hinted at earlier, both Zach Collaros and Vernon Adams Jr. will be suiting up for their respective squads in this Saturday night showdown after missing their Week 9 contests with neck and head injuries, respectively.
That naturally raises offensive expectations, but the Stamps remain a solid 4.5-point favorite as of Friday afternoon. I won't touch the spread, yet I do like the idea of teasing the projected total of 51.5 down by a full five points and pairing it with a very reachable prop for veteran receiver Dominique Rhymes, who's been playing well with both Adams and last week's fill-in, P.J. Walker, and who could be in line for even more opportunity than usual this week with Jalen Philpot a game-time decision due to his hamstring injury.
Rhymes checks in having recorded 88 to 103 receiving yards in three of the past four games, including 89 with Walker in Week 9. He also fell just a yard short in Week 8 of making it four straight over that span, and he had tallies of 98 and 58 yards back in Week 2 and Week 3 as well.
Meanwhile, although the Bombers have allowed a league-low 61.0 percent completion rate, they're also surrendering 291.3 passing yards per contest and are tied for the second-most completions of 30+ yards conceded (15). Rhymes is averaging 6.4 targets and 64.1 receiving yards per game while averaging a career-high 19.0 yards per reception. An absence or limitations on the part of Philpot will naturally only expand Rhymes' role.
Then, the Bombers should also be able to contribute their fair share to the final total if they can be efficient when they get scoring opportunities. Calgary has managed to allow a CFL-low 20.6 points per game and 6.05 yards per play, but they're also facilitating a league-high 60.9 opponent plays per game and 176 first downs, along with the second-most net offensive yards per contest (368.5).
