College Football DFS: Friday Slate, Week 8

The major sites are rolling out a four-game slate of college football action for Friday. Let's get to it!

SLATE OVERVIEW

Middle Tennessee State (-14.5) @ Connecticut O/U: 55.5

Memphis (-2.5) @ Central Florida O/U: 64

Colorado State (-3) @ Utah State O/U: 59

Washington (-17) @ Arizona O/U: 46.5

All of Friday's games have home underdogs, a rarity for the middle of the season. All four of the favorites seem to be good ML bets, although the spread for Washington might be a little wide. Vegas numbers indicate that Memphis' offense should be our focus, and our recommendations reflect that.

QUARTERBACK

Seth Henigan, Memphis (DK $9,000, FD $11,000) @ UCF

Henigan may be a bit too pricey, but he leads a passing offense that ranks sixth in the nation and is among the best in the American Conference. Although they've lost three of their last four games, they visit a UCF team that is out of sorts without Dillon Gabriel and Jaylon Robinson to lead their offense. The Knights also are tepid defensively and will have a hard time containing Henigan's array of targets. UCF's Mikey Keene will potentially have an easier time than he did last week against Cincinnati, but Memphis should control time of possession, and behind Henigan's arm, they'll ultimately prevail.

Todd Centeio, Colorado State (DK $7,7400,FD $7,300) vs. Utah State

Colorado State's defense should ultimately make the difference in this game. They are relentless against the pass, which is one reason why I'm fading Logan Bonner. Centeio is coming off an excellent showing against New Mexico, where he threw for 289 yards. Additionally, Centeio has been largely mistake-free with a 6:1 TD/INT ratio. Utah State's defense is nothing to write home about, and when you add in the excellent pricing on both sites, he's an easy QB or S-FLEX add.

Chase Cunningham, Middle Tennessee State (DK $7,100, FD $9,800) @ Connecticut

The Blue Raiders switched to Cunningham over Bailey Hockman a few weeks ago with generally positive results. Although he's thrown a couple of picks since taking over the job, he's also tossed nine touchdowns over three games as the starter. He can also get loose with runs out of the pocket. The Huskies are pretty abysmal against the pass, so Cunningham is poised for a good showing. His FanDuel price is a little high, but he's well-placed on DraftKings.

RUNNING BACK

Brandon Thomas, Memphis (DK $6,800, FD $8,500) @ UCF

Thomas is a talented freshman who's racked up 642 yards rushing and seven touchdowns over seven games. The foundation of a productive passing game is the ability to get the ball moving on the ground, and Thomas does that for Seth Henigan and the Tigers. He should fare well as long as he gets his usual 15-18 touches per game.

David Bailey, Colorado State (DK $6,000, FD $9,200) @ Utah State

We've already discussed Colorado State's stifling defense. Utah State's defense is on the other end of the spectrum, and they are very forgiving to opposing running backs. They rank 277th in the country against the position, and you can bet they will start up Bailey's engine quickly. He had an embarrassing showing against Iowa but bounced back with two scores against New Mexico.

Jalen John, Arizona (DK $3,600, FD $5,500) vs. Washington

NOTE: This is only a sound play if Michael Wiley and/or Drake Anderson are out or severely limited as they were against Colorado. John stepped in and racked up 71 yards rushing on 11 carries. If Wiley can play, I have no issue with a pivot to Wiley, but Anderson, who is the most likely to suit up, is only valid as a pivot if Wiley is out.

Also consider: Chaton Mobley, MTSU (DK $4,900, FD $9,000)

WIDE RECEIVER

Trey McBride, Colorado State (DK 7,000, FD $8,800) @ Utah State

This season, McBride is Todd Centeio's favorite target and is the country's top tight end by a wide margin. He's currently 17th nationally in receiving yards, which is almost unheard of at his position. Expect Centeio to find him early and often in crossing routes or down the field when he sets up off the line.

Stanley Berryhill, Arizona (DK $6,700, FD $7,000) vs. Washington

While I have little confidence in Will Plummer directing Arizona's offense, there's no denying that Berryhill is an obvious offensive engine for the team. They couple his receiving with several rushes out of the backfield, so their best playmaker gets his hands on the ball as often as possible. The Huskies have had success against the pass, and they could bottle Plummer up, but I still like Berryhill based on snap volume and touches on the ground.

Sean Dykes, Memphis (DK $5,600, FD $8,400) @ UCF

While it would be foolish to fade Calvin Austin, Dykes is another tight end on this slate who is poised to make an impact. Dykes has scored a touchdown in three consecutive games, although that was his only catch against Navy in their last game.  He's usually good for at least five grabs per game, and his YAC should be decent against UCF's generous secondary.

Also consider: Keelan Marion, Connecticut (DK $5,200, FD $5,800)
