As we continue with the 2025 CFB season and college football betting, it's worth looking back on which teams have battled their fair share of injuries so far in the Football Bowl Subdivision season.
RotoWire.com looks weekly at the FBS teams that are struggling the most with injuries this season. Our point system will show how injured a team will be at that point in the season. This list is as of Oct. 2. The point system based on listings: Probable (1 point); Questionable (2 points); Doubtful (3 points); Out (5 points); Out for Season (10 points). Which CFB Teams Have Battled The Most Injuries In 2025?
So far this season, the nation's leader in injuries across the 136-team FBS is the 3-2 Rutgers Scarlet Knights of the Big Ten, who have 126 points by our scoring system, with 19 players on the team's injury report through five games.
Unsurprisingly, that cavalcade of injuries has derailed the Scarlet Knights' season, with consecutive defeats at the hands of Iowa and Minnesota to open conference play, with the Hawkeyes and Gophers outscoring Greg Schiano's team by a combined score of 69-56, as the Piscataway-based institution prepares for a cross-country jaunt to Seattle to play the Washington Huskies on Saturday evening. Oddsmakers from DraftKings Sportsbook have Rutgers down as a 10.5-point road underdog against UW, speaking to the perils that come from being on the periphery of one of the nation's largest athletic conferences in today's college football ecosystem.
Outside of the Tri-State area, the most injured teams in the nation are Rutgers' conference mates from Lincoln, with the Nebraska Cornhuskers racking up 102 points this season, behind 15 injured players, while the Utah State Aggies limp their way to Honolulu to face Hawaii this weekend as the third-most injured team in the FBS, with 94 points and 23 players on the Mountain West member's injury report this week.
As for the rest of the injured masses, Utah State's regional rival from Laramie (Wyoming) is next up, with 86 points and 11 players on the Mountain West member's injury report entering Week 7, while the Temple Owls (86 points/21 injured players) and Charlotte 49ers (78 points/16 players injured) round out the dynamic duo of American teams on the list right now.
The rest of the national top ten includes the murderer's row of Fresno State (66 points/13 injured players), Pittsburgh, Maryland and Washington (64 points each), Colorado State and Illinois (60 points each) — with all of them looking for a reprieve from the injury bug ahead of each team's next regular season competition.
Injuries can affect teams in various ways and they can change CFB futures odds as well.
How Have CFB's Most Injured Teams Fared?
So far this season, the teams that are on our most injured list have a combined record of 38-22, with a .633 winning percentage between those FBS members, with Illinois and Fresno State having the most victories of the lot, with five, while Charlotte and Colorado State are on the opposite end of the dial, with one win apiece in 2025.
According to the team from Bet365, the team on our most injuries list with the best 2026 CFP betting odds right now is Washington, at +20000, while Nebraska (+30000) and Illinois (+50000) are next in line, speaking to the difficulty of winning it all for any team in today's college football landscape, much less one with the number of injuries that any of the teams on our list have dealt with this football season.
