Artificial intelligence has many uses. It can help workers be more productive in the office by crafting memos and performing other routine tasks. It can help people at home by monitoring the thermostat and providing security. But Rotowire wants to know if the leading AI platforms can draft a quality fantasy football team.

To determine that, we asked ChatGPT, Grok and Gemini the same question: Draft a 16-player fantasy football team based on a 12-team PPR (point per reception) league and a mid-round draft slot. We did remove some picks that would likely be selected before they each had a chance to pick. So no, none of the platforms could take Ja'Marr Chase with a mid-first round pick.

Top AI Selections for 2025 Fantasy Football Lineups

RotoWire.com will have NFL betting and fantasy football insight all season.

At first glance, Grok put more emphasis on getting its primary receivers and quarterback, perhaps assuming the top running backs would all be gone by the time it made its first selection.

ChatGPT and Gemini put less emphasis on getting a quarterback and yet both landed decent signalcallers capable of posting solid numbers. However, ChatGPT committed an unforced error by drafting a backup quarterback with the same bye week as its starter.

Gemini also went with an interesting choice of picking a running back (Atlanta's Bijan Robinson) and receiver (Drake London) from the same team with its first two picks. Then, it managed to get Michael Penix Jr. as its backup QB. Should the Falcons exceed expectations, that would potentially make Jayden Daniels trade bait for Gemini.

For real human help to win your league, RotoWire has made our fantasy football draft kit available for players.

AI-Generated Fantasy Football Draft Q&A

Q: Who Are the Best AI-Picked Players for a 2025 Fantasy Football Lineup?

A: AI drafts spotlighted Bijan Robinson as the top RB, with CeeDee Lamb, Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, and Drake London as early WR targets. At TE, Sam LaPorta and Trey McBride stood out as the next wave of elite options.

Q: How Do AI-Drafted Fantasy Football Lineups Compare for 2025?

A: ChatGPT drafted the most balanced redraft team (stars + depth). Grok built a WR-heavy roster with proven vets and younger guys. Gemini leaned heavily on younger talent, making it more of a dynasty or high-upside strategy than a safe lineup.

Q: Which Defense and Kicker Should I Draft for My 2025 Fantasy Team?

A: AI picks the 49ers, Jets and the Ravens as solid defenses to draft. For kickers, the AI tools selected Jake Elliott, Brandon Aubrey and Blake Grupe.
