Top DFS Game Stacks and Leverage Plays for DraftKings

In this article, I'm going to take a deeper dive into game stacks and leverage options. Let's first take a look at what injuries could affect the 11-game main slate.

Injuries to Monitor

Ricky Pearsall/Jauan Jennings : Brock Purdy is back for the 49ers, but whether or not he'll have his top two receivers remains in question. The late 4:05 p.m. EST kickoff makes things more difficult for fantasy managers. Pearsall saw 11 targets in Jennings' absence last week, and Kendrick Bourne could be relevant if either of them miss Sunday's game.

D'Andre Swift : Similar to last week, Swift practiced in a limited fashion all week and will likely give it a go. However, in the case that he's unable to, Kyle Monangai has been the next man up with Roschon Johnson yet to record a touch.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt : JCM went from not practicing Wednesday and Thursday to being a full participant Friday. Interestingly, he failed to see double-digit touches last week even after Austin Ekeler's season-ending injury. If Croskey-Merritt doesn't play, we should see additional carries for Chris Rodriguez and Jeremy McNichols

Baker Mayfield, Davante Adams, Tetairoa McMillan, Chuba Hubbard and Chris Godwin are all listed as questionable but expected to play.

Analyzing Game Stack Rankings for Maximum DFS Impact

Here is how each game ranks in implied points, projected pace/plays per game and how popular we expect each game stack to be in GPPs:

GameImplied PointsPaceStack Popularity
IND/LAR49.558.9High
BAL/KC48.556.8Medium
NO/BUF48.062.0Medium
CHI/LV48.058.1Medium
JAX/SF46.559.5High
CLE/DET44.560.1Medium
PHI/TB44.058.7High
WAS/ATL43.561.0Low
LAC/NYG43.559.2Medium
CAR/NE43.059.3Low
TEN/HOU38.555.5Low

There are a lot of different ways you can form a game stack, with my primary option being a QB with two pass catchers (due to correlation) and one player from the other team (commonly referred to as a bring-back). QB-WR-WR and bringing back a WR is the most popular, but I'm fine going with a TE as one of the pass catchers or an RB from the opposing team. Last week's Milly Maker winner featured a low-rostered Geno Smith and Tre Tucker alongside Brock Bowers with no bring-back.

My preferred stacks

IND/LAR: Daniel Jones, Michael Pittman and Tyler Warren with Puka Nacua

LV/CHI: Geno Smith, Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker with Rome Odunze

NYG/LAC: Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers and Wan'Dale Robinson with Omarion Hampton

NO/BUF: Spencer Rattler, Chris Olave and Juwan Johnson with James Cook

My under-the-radar stack this week is the Saints. It's easy to overlook them as a massive underdog, but we don't care if the points come in garbage time and Rattler could benefit from some very soft coverages in the second half.

Key Leverage Plays for GPP DFS Success

In this section, I'll briefly discuss 10 players that we project to be rostered by less than 10 percent of lineups in GPPs. These can be used as contrarian plays to differentiate yourself from the competition.

RB Alvin Kamara ($6,100) at BUF: Kamara will be overlooked following a poor game in which the game was out of hand by halftime. That's certainly possible in a matchup against the Bills, but I can't get the Derrick Henry game from Week 1 out of my head and Kamara still has 30 DK point potential.

RB Chuba Hubbard ($6,000) at NE: Hubbard is listed as questionable which generally makes players lower rostered than they should be. He's expected to play, and in addition to getting the majority of carries has also been involved in the passing game with 14 targets.

RB Tony Pollard ($5,600) at HOU: Pollard found the end zone for the first time in Week 3 and finally gets an easier matchup against an 0-3 Texans squad after facing some strong defenses thus far. This could be the last time we see Pollard with a vast majority of the touches as Tyjae Spears may return next week.

RB Quinshon Judkins ($5,500) at DET: It hasn't taken long for Judkins to take over the Cleveland backfield. The rookie had 18 of the team's 19 rush attempts and is averaging an efficient 5.5 yards per carry. The game script doesn't favor him here which will keep his rostership low, but we've seen the Lions get into shootouts plenty of times.

WR Emeka Egbuka ($6,800) vs. PHI: Mike Evans is out and while Chris Godwin will return, we don't know if he's going to be a full-go right away. Egbuka has seen increased targets in every game thus far and responded with at least 12 DK points in all three games.

WR DeVonta Smith ($5,400) at TB: Smith has seen an 89 percent snap share and has run a route on every Jalen Hurts dropback. When the Eagles are finally forced to pass like last week, Smith responded with eight catches and a touchdown. That could certainly be the case again at Tampa.

WR Keenan Allen ($5,300) at NYG: It's clearly not a fluke how involved the veteran has been through three weeks with 28 targets at least 17 DK points in every game. And now he steps into a matchup against a Giants defense that ranks 28th in passing yards allowed per game. Sign me up.

WR Michael Pittman ($5,100) at LAR: Jonathan Taylor has been dominant but the good news for Pittman and the rest of the receiving corps is that the Colts rank fifth in pass rate over expectation. And with Alec Pierce out, Pittman should be plenty busy.

WR Christian Kirk ($4,400) vs. TEN: Kirk returned after missing the first two games and only posted 5.5 points but did record eight targets. This is a good spot for Kirk to get it going as the Titans have allowed a whopping 74 points across the last two weeks.

WR Tre Tucker ($4,200) vs. CHI: We're going to find out if Tucker was a one-week wonder, but I'm betting against that being the case. A lack of competition has led to a 93 percent snap share, so the opportunities are going to be there. Facing the Bears isn't the time to abandon ship.
