Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Williams has posted at least 106 tackles in each of his four seasons with the Jets while averaging five passes defensed. New head coach Aaron Glenn and defensive coordinator Steve Wilks bring different defensive philosophies from the departed Robert Saleh and Jeff Ulbrich, but Williams will be a linchpin of the defense regardless of scheme. The star linebacker played more than 99 percent of the team's defensive snaps in 2024 and posted 116 tackles, which was a slight decline from his total of 139 tackles in 2023, when Williams was named a first-team All-Pro. Lands on injured reserve
The Jets placed Williams (shoulder) on injured reserve Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Williams suffered a shoulder injury during the first half of Sunday's 29-27 loss to the Buccaneers, finishing the game with four tackles (three solo), including 0.5 sacks, and one pass defense. He'll be required to miss at least the next four games, which makes Week 8 against the Bengals on Sunday, Oct. 26 the earliest he can return. With Williams and Marcelino McCrary-Ball (hamstring) both on injured reserve, the Jets will turn to Mark Robinson, Cam Jones and rookie fifth-rounder Francisco Mauigoa to serve at outside linebacker with the first-team defense.

2022
Citing Williams' tackle total as the reason that 2023 was the best season of his career would be underselling what he managed to accomplish. He went from among the worst linebackers in coverage in the first four years of his career to the second-best inside linebacker in PFF coverage grade in 2023. Unsurprisingly, that led to more trust from the team and Williams' highest snap count in his five years as a pro. Williams had already proven himself as an excellent tackler but his ability to develop other areas of his game will help him maintain fantasy relevance - particularly in leagues that reward tackles.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could shine in new scheme
Williams could be the biggest beneficiary of the Jets' new approach on defense under head coach Aaron Glenn and defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Williams had at least 106 tackles and 2.0 sacks in each of the past four seasons, but he's looking to bounce back from a down year by his lofty standards after being a first-team All-Pro in 2023. That previous success came under the conservative defensive scheme of Robert Saleh and Jeff Ulbrich, while Glenn and Wilks will be implementing a much more aggressive approach that utilizes significantly more blitzes from linebackers, which could help Williams exceed his previous career high of 3.0 sacks.
