Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Williams has posted at least 106 tackles in each of his four seasons with the Jets while averaging five passes defensed. New head coach Aaron Glenn and defensive coordinator Steve Wilks bring different defensive philosophies from the departed Robert Saleh and Jeff Ulbrich, but Williams will be a linchpin of the defense regardless of scheme. The star linebacker played more than 99 percent of the team's defensive snaps in 2024 and posted 116 tackles, which was a slight decline from his total of 139 tackles in 2023, when Williams was named a first-team All-Pro. Logs eight tackles vs. Patriots
Williams recorded eight total tackles (six solo) in Thursday night's 27-14 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
The Murray State product tied Jarvis Brownlee, Jamien Sherwood and Brandon Stephens for the most stops on the Jets' defense during Thursday's loss. Since returning from injury in the Week 8 win over the Bengals, Williams has tallied 23 total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, and two passes defended over just three contests. He's expected to remain a viable IDP option in the Jets' Week 12 matchup against the Ravens.

Citing Williams' tackle total as the reason that 2023 was the best season of his career would be underselling what he managed to accomplish. He went from among the worst linebackers in coverage in the first four years of his career to the second-best inside linebacker in PFF coverage grade in 2023. Unsurprisingly, that led to more trust from the team and Williams' highest snap count in his five years as a pro. Williams had already proven himself as an excellent tackler but his ability to develop other areas of his game will help him maintain fantasy relevance - particularly in leagues that reward tackles.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Demoted to backup role
Williams was informed Wednesday that he has been demoted from his starting job, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams' role moving is uncertain, though he hopes to win his starting job back throughout the second half of the season. At 1-7 and having just traded away Sauce Gardner and Quincy's brother Quinnen Williams, the Jets are likely trying to get an extensive looks at some younger alternatives at linebacker over the second half of the season.
